TBH at my place at least,it's not worth turning it down as we never go over,if anything, apart from the sorting, and because of no Mail Sort,it's actually easier.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Last week of so called summer lapsing.
Monday 95% of 2 lapsed rounds managed. 5% on OT.
Tuesday 95% again
Wednesday 5% managed 95% on OT.
Think that maybe the 5% will be likely rest of the week.
Good to see it working and helping RM out.

You have to blame job & finish for the nutcases who are still running around.
They cannot grasp that even on light days and no lapsing that by coming back early
managers will take a mental note and use it to RM's advantage later.
Wait until Banked hours come in and those poor suckers run round and have to work extra later
for doing the same amount of work as those doing the job properly
I realise that it is hard to change for some folk but surely looking at the long term and
seeing your fulltime job being reduced to part time or to run around your 40 hour week within
32 hours and having to work an extra day back for RM is something to think about.

You say all that!! A guy in my office comes in an hour early every morning... Thinkin its his right to finish early, was told the other day when he got back early to do part of another delivery.. He did! Would you believe the following day he came in an hour early again!!!!! Hard to believe But totally true!! What future do we have with people around like that??Broxi51 wrote:You have to blame job & finish for the nutcases who are still running around.

We only managed 2 weeks of the summer staffing and we have not done it since, its costing so much money its frightening, all the staff took the do your job as it should be to there hearts,we used to do alot of good will stuff but not now nobody shifts anything unless there is O/T being paid we also take our breaks all its done is cost money as for phase 3 goodness knows whats going to happen next, but to be honest i do see alot of managers rattled by what is happening and they are being chased all the time we have more managers out on delivery than we ever have had.

Quite right brother jockthearab and our union should be applauded by all for the following:jockthearab wrote:Have you noticed when you play the game by the rules (starting on time ,taking your 40 min meal break, not using your own car, only 3.30hr delivery span) the managers dont like it ,& they try their bully boy tactics.rockypostie wrote:Our office is full of muppets though,we have probley over 70% of town use there cars still and you just can't get it into there heads it isnt job and finish anymore, ppl keep moaning at me cause i refuse to take out the extra on the busy days cause i havent got time, but i tell them im just doing my job how it should be done and if they did that too they wouldnt have to do the extra because they wudnt have time!
Hey I'm only following your rules
As Corporal Jones used to say "THEY DON'T LIKE IT UP EM CAPTAIN MAINWARING"
CWU wins pay-outs for Royal Mail workers.
The Communication Workers Union has today (Friday) secured pay-outs from Royal Mail for 27 postal workers who had their pay stopped for up to two days without good reason last August.
The 27 postal staff work at Streatham delivery office and had up to two days’ pay stopped after following a CWU campaign called ‘Do the Job Properly’ in August 2007. The campaign encourages workers to attend work on time and not come in early, take their proper meal breaks, not to carry bags heavier than agreed health and safety weight limits and not to use their private cars for delivering mail. Managers at Streatham delivery office wrongly penalised staff for a subsequent build-up of mail and accused staff or being on a go-slow.
Bob Gibson, National Officer, said: “This is an important victory for both the individuals involved and the CWU. Postal workers should not be penalised for working in accordance with their contractual responsibilities and within health and safety guidelines.
“This result sends a strong message to Royal Mail that intimidating behaviour by managers against postal workers is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”
The 27 cases of CWU members were brought to an employment tribunal at Croydon Tribunal Office on 2nd September. Royal Mail’s opposition collapsed on Thursday 4th September and the company will now pay each of our members their outstanding pay of up to £170.
"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."
