Summer Lapsing...

Post by Up Hill Down Hill »

Tomorrow is the last day... We've had 3 walks split into 8 and 48 of us take the 24 splits rotating each day. e.g I'll do Tues, Thur, Sat. It's about 75 houses and usually takes 30mins. Our benefit is we get out at 8 instead of 9 and don't have to do any sorting. The cons have been that on busy days we have had to do sorting and got out later than those not doing lapsing. We've all claimed docket everytime. We've tried to flip it in winter saying do we leave 75 houses then? Docket here we come come xmas. Not much cutting off at our place. Allow 30mins flexibility each day (this time adds up apparently and we are given it back in a form of either overtime or time owed) - Flexibility seems to be the answer for everything that goes wrong though 'can you do me 10mins sorting, prepping, driving etc and it only works 1 way. :no no

I'm on leave but saw the bloke who delivers my mail today, I live on one of the lapsed duties, and he is under the impression there is no going back and that this is due to run ad infinitum - anyone else heard this?

RM are using phase 3 to keep it going where it can be done within your time. We struggled during the summer lull :left:
So I dont fancy our chances when the mail picks up
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.

The absolute worst day on deliveries is easily 10 x better than the best day in the Room of Doom you'll breeze it k66yla

Did outdoor flexiblity one time only. We all ran round like headless chickens (including manager) Now have pegasus in the very near future so this should take care of any spare capacity. Can't wait.

Broxi51 wrote:In the good old days when we used to have a quiet summer, I used to think of it as a thank you from RM for working my boll*cks off at xmas for them. Now that I have been hounded for 16 weeks for saying no thanks to summer lapsing I can only return the favour by working to my time over xmas. Yes I could do with the money but if they want me to work my hours in the summer then they can have it that way in the winter too. Bah! Humbug!!
totally agree with that after being badgered all summer to do extra for nothing while the favourites still got all their UNDERTIME !! most of us already told management working to our time at xmas so will we see the re-introduction of the xmas pressure daily payment ? sorry only joking !! :arrrghhh :cfo :lfo
