As I have said in 1 post in this thread the original questions was who "believes" that mail volumes are falling, Some believe they are failing , a lot of walking posties don't believe they have fallen - and never the twain shall meet - shall we now draw a line under this thread and move onto more interesting subjects.

Have had a significant increase in mail this week but at least I've got to be thankful that (as Tman says) mail is falling.

I now believe that the only reason that Tman is saying that the volumes are falling is because his job is on the line because RM are moving his work to other offices. :cuppa

Our own Mail volumes, are definately falling. And have been for some time now. However, there is more DSA, and more Parcels. That's what's making Mailbags heavier, and keeping the Lorries full.

So NO have the volumes of mail have'nt dropped

But you're basing that assertion on your office and it's organisation, and extrapolating that to the whole country, as others have also done.

The evidence is irrefutable and continuing; mail volumes are down, and likely to drop further yet. How can we (as in CWU members) hope to fight for our livelihoods if some continue to ignore hard facts?

Who is ignoring "hard facts" . What 88% of respondents are saying is that they are delivering more items daily. The number of items stuck through letterboxes is about as hard fact as you can get. Seems this does not tally with official statistics, but establishment figures are in general increasingly distrusted especially when they directly contradict daily experience.Maybe there is a flaw in the system, and, as, if stated a DO can receive 30% of it's daily traffic uncounted by a mailcenter does this have huge revenue implications?
