Word on the underground in my office is that even people who voted yes are gonna cross the picket line (not all but a lot), this isnt 11 years ago, most people these days have upgraded houses and took on massive mortgages or have remortgaged etc. Think theres a shock coming regarding just how many people are gonna honour their yes vote lads.
I think voting YES for IA and then not going out when called is worse than voting NO. At least the NO voters are sticking to their convictions. Mind you they may say they voted YES but either didn't or voted No.

Then they should have voted no. You should always have the courage of your convictions.
I think a strike would be pretty solid its just when it drags on that people become a bit itchy.
I really do think though we should have a complete overtime ban first even if its just a starter before the big stuff.
Watching the managers covering all that S/A and rest day working will give me wood!!
Then when its all over and the managers get screwed i will stand back a have a smile to myself and think if we would have all stood together then a better deal would have been had for all.

when you post you know what you mean, but it does not mean that everyone else will do,try to be a bit clearer on your grounds when you post comments like that(underground)etc
we are all supposed to be on the same side unless someone has a secret agenda
An overtime ban may cause a minor inconvenience for our unit managers, but it isn't them we are aiming at. Some managers are okay and indeed there must be a percentage that sympathise or even quietly support our position. Under expected (lol) summer conditions an overtime ban may not even be noticed and where there is a confrontation over walk finishing times may lead to avoidable disciplinary action
A full national absence however - even for a day, and with a percentage crossing the picket will not get the mail out other than Special Delivery and will get an immediate response from media and pressure on RM from customers.
Plotting the days if it comes to that will be an important issue to ensure that the same strikers are not caught out each time by the " rolling rota day off" system wherein the same person has their day off fall on the strike day each time and never suffers financially whilst colleagues do.
So much to think about here that will influence the next few weeks, but I think that an essential ingredient will be humour and a preparedness to accommodate views without flying off into rhetoric and insults - that is what we expect of the opposition.
My office was calm and confident this morning but the boss normally was obviously looking for opportunities to assert authority - we came off the IPS at about 07:40 after having fewer on the sorting than were prepping overtime and part time walks, and staff who were leaving the office at around 10:00 were being challenged over their expected extended delivery claims (we have to estimate in advance and have it approved now.
Add to that the fact that Security have so far interviewed 6 of our lads on their deliveries in the last week to make sure we are working "by the book" in terms of mail security and we get the feeling that we are going to be pressured at every opportunity.
We can cope with this - our boss has no room for any more fleas in his ear and by the time I went in to claim he just glanced up and agreed the time.

On that note.... ive heard t-mobile are scrapping their Special delivery contract and moving to a courier for their phones at the very announcement of a strike
I really would like to think us all as union members will stick together (That even includes Tommo and Madsorter!) and keep true to our word and strike when called upon, regardless of our financial position. I seriously don't believe that it would be an all out strike for weeks but a series of sustained one day strikes..But then I could be wrong! The main thing is we show the screws that we mean business and stick together on this. Any dissention in the ranks at this stage would be disasterous and make us look a right load of gutless muppets..If we jump ship at the first hurdle..Just my thoughts!! I'm only a humble unskilled worthless(apparently according to BBC viewers) postie after all.. LOL!
