offsick - exploiting me
hi
i have some serious problem with my arm
doctors do not know what is it but it's not broken or anything, just very painful
i'm undergoing some treatment and wait for seing another specialist
was contacted by RM Healt Advisor and they want to organise me some kind of rehabilitation
my delivery manager [i'm delivery postie] told me i can come back to work indoor using one hand
and even promised me he won't trigger another stage warning if i'll do this and by any chance have to go offsick again because of arm
now, i would really want to get some good advices what should i do
what rights i have
what rights they have - can they sack me for staying too long offsick, or state that my condition disqualify me from being postie
should i stay offsick or agree to work indoor
mind, that i've done lot of favors to bosses, but they alvays tend to not remember this when i want any favor....
hope you can help me, it's serious matter for me
regards

We had one at my DO, but he left when nights stopped and unfortunately I posted a story about him dying on his new job a few months ago.
As is usual Dude my best advice would be to approach the H&S Rep for your office or the area one and get his advice. Make sure any agreement or plan for you going back to work is in writing and has all situations covered. (Such as what happens it the condition worsens, and if it will or won't trigger a stage).
Best of luck.

They should offer you rehab and this could take the form of working in a mail centre where it might be better for you.
If the problem goes on and on it could mean medical retirement i think because our caring employer could decide you unfit for work.
please make sure you check with rep or area rep about your situation.

You should speak to your Doctor first. If he signed a sick note, it will have on there "to refrain from work until..." If you return to work before that date, you may not be insured to work?
If Doc says you are fit to work and you want to return, take your CWU Rep in with you to arrange rehab with your Linemanager.

L Tommo, I have just caught sight of a leaked internal memo from RM HQ, setting out new company policy that will be briefed out next week:
It has come to our attention that some of our people are not currently in possession of the full use of all limbs. This presents the business with a further opportunity to reduce costs by trimming one of our biggest overheads, which is of course, payroll. Naturally, when we employed you, it should have been made clear that all pensionable pay is granted on the basis that you commit to providing the full quota of functioning arms and legs, namely two of each (although this requirement may, at our discretion, be waived in the event of pre-existing medical conditions). Therefore, those reporting for duty with less than full working use of all limbs will in future have their pay reduced by 25% for each non-functioning part.

If you're serious about that Memo, then RM will be in serious Legal Ttrouble. Because that is blatant discrimination, against people with Disabilities. I can only hope that you're joking.Carnoustie wrote:L Tommo, I have just caught sight of a leaked internal memo from RM HQ, setting out new company policy that will be briefed out next week:

he's joking - bit of satire - though RM Brain's Trust @ 148 , Old St , EC1 have come up with similar hare- brained "ideas" .andy2007 wrote:If you're serious about that Memo, then RM will be in serious Legal Ttrouble. Thank goodness for that! That's where most of the problems arise with RM. Too many Graduates, who have no idea about the "real World", and only care about figures. We need more Managers, who have worked their way up through the ranks. And therefore, have a good understanding of what Life is really like, for the rest of us.
