DELIVERY SPAN 3.5 TO LONG
It is my firm belife the present 3.5 hour delivery span is too long but royalmail want's a longer delivery span!. Now with the proposed intoduction of walk sequencing machine's and the reduction of indoor work to delivery staff ie reduction of hour's is now not the time to reduce the delivery span to 2 hour's return to office have you meal break and a rest (toilet break), And do another span of 1.5 to 2 hour's max and travel back to office at the finnish time kind of like the old system of two delivery's of year's gone by. Is this the solution to or our doom i for one think that running is not the answer to all our problem's and we should work smart and be clever.

thats what im hoping for
if they want 4 hour del span they have to make sure staff take proper meal rel or people will drop like flies
heard 2+2 .problem for us wedeliver 5-10 miles from office ,
they will let local walks return to office for toilet meals etc
but will tell duties further afield they will need to take breaks on street (dont think so)or force us to take meal rel
at end of duty (dont think so illegal) whos going to sort this out any info welcome
cos there not gonna let us take take 20 mins to del point 20 mins back to d.o. and 20 minutes back again thats1 hr on top of 40 mins break on top of 4hr del . nearly 6 hrs without a letter prep/sorted /tied up.
big mess looming i dont do o-time

The law of the land states that every worker MUST have the use of toilet facilities while at work. Also, by LAW, no one should work longer than 6 hours without
taking at least a 20 mins break. Also, this break should be away from workplace. For too long Royal Mail has failed in it's legal obligations (aided of course by us all rushing around and breaking all rules so we could finish early) Perhaps this is the time we should start playing by the rule book and remember these laws were hard fought for by previous workers for us to enjoy.

Toilet breaks should be built into your walk. If none then time allowed should be there for you to return to your office - end of and this should also be in Georoute.saga wrote:The law of the land states that every worker MUST have the use of toilet facilities while at work. DELIVERY SPAN 3.5 TO LONG
We had a WTLL (L=lies) session with DOM yesterday and this came up as something the "business" is "looking at" - going beyond 3.5 hours delivery span.
As well as toilet breaks, which in our place they don't give jack about, I questioned the H & S issues of going beyond 3 1/2 hours. Got the stock "I don't know" answer.
Apart from the physical hammer you take on a 3.5 delivery, has anyone ever considered the weather when coming up with 3.5 as being a suitable time span? 3.5 hours out in continuous heavy rain, snow, blistering heat or having to concentrate like hell to stay upright in icy conditions is surely well out of order in such a health and safety consious age???? The Courier may well like to make martyrs out of postmen delivering in boats during floods etc etc, but some of the weather we get now allied to being out in it for so long is not on. H&S risk assesments should prove it.

Is this going to effect everyone?, I already do some walks that last 4 hours any more and they can stuff it, not worth collapsing for £8.50hour.
