We have to tell our manager if we are gonna be booking extended delivery, then he counts our empty slots on our frame before telling us the mail volumes are down, and then when we get back the signing of O/T sheet is in the managers office or not anywhere to be seen cos all managers have gone home.
The following day we are called into the office one by one and challenged why we have booked pressure O/T when the mail is apparently down on there computers ???

Worse case scenario was Burslem and RM had to come up with vague , obscure charges to get themselves out of the hole they'd bloody-mindedly backed themselves into .

Don!t claim any, tell the Manager that you are protected by law to work your contracted hours and leave excess mail in the frame.(flexibility)

Just work to your contracted hours, & tell them to shove the O/T.
Mail volume might be down but mailsort & light bulbs excetera certainly are not.
If you want to do the O/T thats fine, but I never do O/T or anything other than what my duties are.
I would not lift a finger to aid this crumbling company.

Anyone whos claiming pressure MUST tell the line manager or Dom before they go out,we then tell them the next day what time we finished and as long as he/she does not think we are taking the piss then no probs as mail is delivered.

That is the way it should be but the manager in my DO just says that the mail is not heavy enough and that if we don't take it out and deliver it we'll be done for wilful delay. (plus with the amount of people moving around from duty to duty people don't really know how long it will take).johnnypick wrote:Anyone whos claiming pressure MUST tell the line manager or Dom before they go out,we then tell them the next day what time we finished and as long as he/she does not think we are taking the piss then no probs as mail is delivered.

We have to 'negotiate' with our line manager before we go out. The manager's own words. Except I don't remember it saying in the job description that I had to be some sort of mini-Alan Sugar just to get paid an hour overtime.islfor wrote:We have to tell our manager if we are gonna be booking extended delivery, then he counts our empty slots on our frame before telling us the mail volumes are down, and then when we get back the signing of O/T sheet is in the managers office or not anywhere to be seen cos all managers have gone home.

If we go over we book over... Manager only counts the empty slots on quiet days and only weighs bags on quiet days.

Non-plussed!
Well, judging by the reaction of an itinerant manager from a DO in an another local town, I was led to believe that pressure O/T (in addition to absence O/T) was a local phenomenon: he had never heard of it, apparently. How we do it in our office is top secret!
. Sorry folks! No juiciness here!
