Late starts in hot weather

Post by outwood »

Any of you got this situation? Our office management and union have agreed that postal delivery staff cannot leave the office before 9.45 even if ready to go - which we frequently are. Ths is enforced to the extent that a manager will stand on the gate throwing conduct codes at anyone leaving early. Leaving aside the original reasons for this it means that we are still out delivering up to 2pm, taking in the hottest part of the day. A year ago we could complete by 12.30 latest. How does this square with health and safety?

As we all seem to be out on delivery later now,sun cream and a big bottle of ice cold water should now be standard issue for all delivery staff imho :nana :dance :Very Happy
