They stand around by the machines playing with themselves, reading newpapers, drinking coffee, eating crisps, chatting anything but work according to one wag on here.

RM seems to have a lot of trouble shooters because we have one in my DO (well I think we do because we haven't seen him from Christmas, broken after only 6 months) :Very Happy

Our mailcenter is great the warehouse is a death trap with forklifts flying about all over the place and the sorting hall is bliss all the early uniform grade sing whistle while you work while the managers are sat in the canteen drinking tea at 7am when the canteen opens but the uniform grade dont have a break till 9.30.
So if like a lot of us we have to travel into work and get up at 4.45 am get a wash and brush your teeth then it is into the car for our 5.45 start.
I must not grumple because as i am lucky to work for such a careing employer who are looking out for me and has my welfare and everything i am to do as the head of my household go to work and earn my corn in there hands.

I work in a local mc in cheshire, the moral is low, the boss's name is adolf and now we are all in fear of closing....maybe...dunno, there are too many wasters, but the workers seem to be the ones that get picked on as the bosses know they get a good job done by genuine workers.....we just carry the shirkers!!!,

and the smoking debate?....forget it, they bring it in one week, out the next, back in the following week, while they have their 5, (yeah right!) minutes per hour, and not challenged, even when we are failling to clear!! yet the non smokers are expected to work their butts off to cover them while they have their damned fags!!! :evil/mad :evil/mad

The Centre is filthy.....the cleaner is useless, even to a point of cleaning the toilet floor with stagnant water and stinking it out! We complained about our wire bins not being cleaned....two weeks later they were all taken out, and replaced with plastic ones eventually, which are very few and far between.

The management is no longer approachable for anything, even turning our radio on/up/over, thats now locked away!!! even after we paid for it through first line fix!!! and all the management attitudes stink!! But thats enough for now....cant think of anything positive to say about the place at the minute, if I do I will voice it next time round....but it doesnt paint a pretty picture does it? :hmmmm :whistle :cry

i may not currently be working in an MC but i did over christmas (02 dec 07 - 30 Jan 08) worked in glasgow MC and to be honest there were those managers who were total T**ts.... only 1 comes to mind... the way he acted you would think it was the army , he was always wearing a pink shirt and i DO mean pink.... and he was frequently verbally bullying and slagging off other line managers.

My own line manager was quiet and to begin with unaproachable .
but after a few days/weeks you could speak to him, and ask about anything you were unsure about... he would come over now and again and say he had been asked to supply staff for another section and he was sorry... nice guy.

the shift manager was very approachable as were our writing clerk and most of the other managers...

only pink s**t and this other bloke who.. wore a different destinctive waist coat every night... was very abrupt and put your back up made you want to do the opposite of what he said...

but on the late shift where i nly worked on a handfull of nights... the only thing that could make the managers more fearsom was if you actually gave them a whip... they would probably use it too.

personally i think its a mixed bag... you either get a load of tw*ts and a handfull of decnt guys... or the opposite...
just depends on what shift your working on and where in the MC your working

We had a new night shift manager a while back who came in with all guns blazing. But since then a backward step has been taken because he has realized it's not that easy trying to implement all his new ideas.Without going through me first i might add. :cool
60 or 65, I wonder.
