Things have changed. When I got mine after 15 years, they sent me a form asking if I intended to go to the awards dinner. Apparently they sit a manager at your table. As if I'm going to have a pint with some goon who is trying work me into an early grave. Absolutely no chance of me turning up, and I have to say none of the four of us who qualified went. They sent another form with a list of gifts asking what I wanted. I wrote 'nothing' on it and sent it back. They sent me a brandy glass with the Royal Mail logo on it which went into the bin, a tie with a bronze crown on it (no fan of Liz) which followed the glass to the landfill, a bronze badge which ended up being given to an old bloke in the pub, and a certificate which also went into the bin and the frame used by my daughter to hold a big photo of a cat.
At 20 years, much the same except this time it was a glass tankard and a tie with a silver crown and the frame holds a photo of a Spanish milita woman from the civil war. Amazing how political a kid can become in five years.
I can't wait for 30 years. A photo of Leighton's funeral cortege should look very nice in a frame hanging up in the toilet.

I don't know where all this frivolity comes from - I got a Consignia pin after 10 years - but it only arrived after 13 years - with a certificate in a wooden frame - which now houses a picture of my beloved border collie - If I live to see the arrival of my 20th award I want Pammy in her red swimsuit and a well done steak dinner and a new set of teeth. Pammy can leave her teeth at home!!!!!!!!!!!!! :pray
