I applied for, and got, a transfer in 2005. I had been an employee for about 6 months, and my transfer came through in about 6 weeks. I filled in a simple 1 page form and gave it to my gaffer, but that was in the Good Old Days when there were still full time contracts to be had. These days you have to fill in a multi page form, not be on a stage, all kinds of guff, but that's progress.

If you're near the office you want to go to or you could make a visit to them somehow, going in and speaking to the manager could help.
I done this and got moved within the week!
Mind you it was about 5 years ago and things have changed so much.
And my sick record was pants.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
