Should the parliamentary select committee be informed in advance of chairing any such claims?

1. Select committee is pointless.
2. Take normal meal relief and finish on time.
3. If said committee and anyone else looking in do not suggest 2, then we should do something constructive and pop over to France to help with the peace talks.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Nothing to do with the committee because it’s a self inflicted problem. Take your breaks. If you come in early in order to cover a break later TAKE THE BREAK.

Everyone with unpaid breaks are on the new contract and have been employed within the last four years.

They have to learn that working like a dog on speed will not progress their career it will only send them off sick faster.

TAKE YOUR BREAKS

Self inflicted? I take breaks every day and am still knackered. What planet are you on?

The title of this post is about people not taking a break because they are instead finishing 20 mins early - that’s not a break

Clocking out 20 minutes early with outstanding meal relief is an agreed practice in most offices that have been hardest hit by the last network review.

Yea I know that but that’s not a break. A break should be taken during a shift not at the end of it so the fact that posties don’t take their break during their shift like they are supposed to, means that the committee aren’t going to be interested in fatigue related to not taking a break - posties do that bit to themselves.

This is entirely separate from being fatigued due to the workload.

Taking half your break at the end of the day is a national agreement. Only for legacy contracts.

How does that work with SISO?

All employees are entitled and take a minimum 20 minute break near the middle of your duty
Never at the beginning or end

The workload and ground covered is the same whether you take 40 min break in the middle or a 20 min break in the middle and 20 at the end so I dont quite know what point is being made here
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Well actually the Working Time Regulations say different

Rest breaks at work
A worker is entitled to an uninterrupted break of 20 minutes when daily working time is more than six hours. It should be a break in working time and should not be taken either at the start, or at the end, of a working day.

No you havent read the post correctly

he said we take HALF our break during the shift and HALF at the end

Half of our break as a FTer is 20 mins which is what the WTR mentions

Taking 20 mins at the end still means that 20 is taken midshift as WTR says
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

You need to read my post again and what was stated

"All Employees are entitled to a 20 minute break middle of duty"

Never mentioned legacy staff

Of all the problems within RM there is an obsession with things like this.
Try telling those with 5pm finishes that they can't finish at 4:40pm.

If you are smart then it's very possible to take a 20 min then several short 5-10 mins stop during the day.
