CWU announces pause to DM26 roll out!
The CWU have finally grown a pair and apparently now stopped any further roll out of DM26, it'll be interesting to see how RM now responds to the announcement.
https://www.cwu.org/news/pause-new-deli ... el-rollout
The CWU has today (9 October) announced a pause to any further rollout of delivery model 26 (DM26) until there is a credible and agreed plan to address the issues affecting units that are currently not working. Following the announcement, Royal Mail has requested immediate negotiations.
The union remains firmly committed to ensuring that both EP and Royal Mail comply with the National Agreement and urgently focus on those delivery offices where DM26 is not operating as intended.
It is important to remember that when a regulator changes the Universal Service Obligation for the delivery of mail, it creates a binding requirement on the company to implement those changes for both legal and commercial reasons.
DM26 was not the union’s preferred option, nor do we run the company. It was a negotiated solution and the only viable alternative to the optimised delivery model (ODM), which failed to deliver in the offices where it was trialled. It was also the only other alternative option that complied with Ofcom’s regulatory changes.
Members are reminded that the best way to ensure delivery offices bring in the new way of working successfully is to support your union at local, area and Divisional level to ensure that the necessary interventions and agreed fixes are delivered within your workplace.
Together, we must now focus on ensuring that the agreements we have secured are properly implemented and that every affected unit receives the support and corrective action it needs.

Do the CWU really have a veto on it coming in or not? They only state "CWU cannot support further deployment".
Issues, and there are many, only get resolved when both RM and CWU listen and act on what staff have been telling them for months, even before deployment.

Something along the lines of "It was your idea."TopperGas wrote: ↑09 Oct 2026, 19:15https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1Gc9Pb9dFM/

The absolute gall of the CWU. 'supoort your local, area and divisional reps'. How about they support us for a change.

They won't stop the roll out of DM26, RM will just carry on rolling it out. Just about very DO locally has gone over so there's probably not too many DOs left to go over across the country.

Let us not forget that in the battle of ideas, the company's was proven unworkable first. To recap:
- We tried the ODM. It didn't work outside dinky units.
- We tried DM26. It didn't work outside dinky units.
The machine stops.

Re: CWU announces pause to DM26 roll out!
Hold on. We were told DM26 was the union's preferred option as the choice was between the company just forcing the ODM regardless or Heavy & Light/DM26. They put this to the membership and that was their recommendation. I don't recall a third option. Doing nothing was explicitly not an option. Nothing else was on the table that conformed to the USO spec, so what's this fantasy option?yellowbelly wrote: ↑Yesterday, 10:38DM26 was not the union's preferred option, nor do we run the company. 7 over 8 was the CWU’s preference. Would probably have worked as well.Mr Rush wrote: ↑Yesterday, 17:14Hold on. I would actually like 7/8 after DM26 nonsense. I think the workload would be about right for most offices providing the mail still alternates heavy and light.

Problem is that only save's ⅛ of the work force costs and MW claimed RM couldn't survive without the savings DM26 brings, he can't have it both ways either they can survive or they can't?funkflex55 wrote: ↑Yesterday, 18:46I would actually like 7/8 after DM26 nonsense.
