Enjoy the honeymoon period. The breakdown is just around the corner.
could you elaborate please
Everything has a honeymoon period. Then the little things start to kick in. The niggles and the foibles. Next thing it all starts to fall apart. Walsh is already attacking the non members because they won't join. Walsh is already threatening franchising.
I wish you would remember the elephant in the room. Royal Mail.
It's not though is it. The industry will do what it does. Our concern is how we organise and fightback.

Amazon prime day next week - first big test of dm26 with most offices started this
It's only 12 weeks till xmas

Feels like Amazon Prime day every day past few weeks, first time ever ive brought backed 30/40 tracked items past three days in a row, parcels and packets are just unmanageable along with everything else we have to do.. DM26 is a total farce
I know in our office the plan for every round underestimated the tracked by 30 to 40%. Some of the rounds that get over 100 tracked items only had mid 50's on the plan. Not really sure what data they were working with, rumour has it it was over a year out of date.
I doubt think the business have thought how to deal with any mail which isn't delivered!!
There wasn't meant to be any! The contingency was DM26 working flawlessly.
They’d have to spend more than five minutes planning it for an office to be okay but sadly, the managers clumping walks together in pods, haven’t done a walk this side of the 2012 Olympics.
Tbf, neither have the people in CWU who came up with the idea.

I can't understand how the data management at RM is so bad.
Tracks have to be scanned into the system: at any point it should be possible to find out how.many parcels are in the system and how many are going where.
Why aren't managers getting an email in the morning telling them how many parcels are expected, broken down by post code area and /or round?

I know from speaking to guys on LATs that often the manifest the MC sends to management is wildly off. The balance of resources to workload is always in favour of understaffing so consequently items roll over.
Anyway, careful what you wish for. When they have Total Information Awareness our entire working existence will be nanomanaged. Next stop: dynamically generated core duties.

All packets get scanned, if it's the barcode on a stamp then the system won't know which DO it's going to. If it's not a stamped item we scan the 2D barcode, so it's down to what is encoded in the 2D barcodes.
We don't have a wave 3, anything that doesn't arrive in time for the wave 2 dispatch gets failed and rolled over to the next day.

‘Total Information Awareness’
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’

So where do the extra LATs items come from then? Every day we get approximately 25% more LATs than appear on the manifest, in the past we use to leave anything not on the list for the following day but we've now been told any T24's have to be delivered the same day or it goes down as a failure against the DO.

No idea as I just get given the LATs for my post code area to deliver, I don't see the original York arrive as I'm out doing my normal duty.
As far as I'm aware they come from our local MC.
If the york header card is purple and white then it's a direct york from one of the superhubs. Processing doesn't touch it, it gets wheeled straight from the artic to the relevant loading bay.
