We put about half a dozen trays of foreign letters through the machines every night.TopperGas wrote: ↑28 Sep 2026, 21:19Unless foreign letters and articles for the blind are now so rare you do have to wonder if the MC's aren't stock piling all of them.funkflex55 wrote: ↑28 Sep 2026, 20:14Do you lot hide foreign letters, blind articles and whatever else RM decides is RM that day under the frame too?

The reality is they DON'T get sent in separate trays!SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑28 Sep 2026, 15:26You should be sorting 1C and 2C into separate IPS frames, that's the whole point of MCs sending 1C and 2C manual letters and flats in separate trays.TopperGas wrote: ↑28 Sep 2026, 15:01All our 1c & 2c is sorted into the same IPS frame, we don't have any options but to sort though it on a Saturday but that only takes minutes, there's no way we've got time to sort through and the mail trays from the MC for 2c mail which potential already as a 1c or Tracked item on a Saturday.tramssirhc wrote: ↑28 Sep 2026, 14:21Any mail in the non-core IPS stays where it is until the next day. Checking the sorting is not part of the prep plan.reddevils wrote: ↑28 Sep 2026, 13:46You are missing the point entirely. Thanks for your morning routine. I think most people understand how to prep in the morning, it was specifically Saturday that people were confused as to what they should be doing in the morning. There is no need to dig through trays looking for 1st class.
First class is not reliably put in the 1st class frame at our depot, neither is mail accurately placed in the correct pigeon hole for the correct duty. This means you have no choice but to take all the mail from the IPS and filter through it yourself or as you say dig through it on a Saturday. If you didn't you would fail to have all your first class.

Re: DM26 First Class/Second Class/DSA adherence in individual offices
They DO get sent in separate trays and have been for months now. There's 1C flats, 2C flats, 1C manual letters and 2C manual letters. Each one of them is sent in a separate tray. If it's a plain white label it's 1C, if the white label is green stripes on it, it's 2C.yellowbelly wrote: ↑Yesterday, 08:32The reality is they DON'T get sent in separate trays!SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑28 Sep 2026, 15:26You should be sorting 1C and 2C into separate IPS frames, that's the whole point of MCs sending 1C and 2C manual letters and flats in separate trays.TopperGas wrote: ↑28 Sep 2026, 15:01All our 1c & 2c is sorted into the same IPS frame, we don't have any options but to sort though it on a Saturday but that only takes minutes, there's no way we've got time to sort through and the mail trays from the MC for 2c mail which potential already as a 1c or Tracked item on a Saturday.tramssirhc wrote: ↑28 Sep 2026, 14:21Any mail in the non-core IPS stays where it is until the next day. In our office they do come in separate trays, I think the problem is we were never told that what came in to be sorted on the priority IPS frame was all priority regardless of what postage mark it had on it.

Aren't you meant to have IPS frames that are purely 2C, with the 2C going over to the walk frames if it's the "heavy" day for a walk?

Yes we do but how would people know that that particular 2C letter was a priority if we put it with the rest of the 2C?

Re: DM26 First Class/Second Class/DSA adherence in individual offices
It's very simple, if a 2C item comes in in the mech tray it's due for delivery. Once the 2C manual letters and 2C flats have been sorted to the walks only the 2C for walks on their "heavy" day goes over to them walks.
How can DOs make a right pigs ear of such a simple thing?

You do not work and from a lot of your comments have never even stepped into a DO office but seem to think you know it all.
Some 2C comes in mixed trays with 1C and Tracked, that is all due for delivery that day even if it's on the light side.

Re: DM26 First Class/Second Class/DSA adherence in individual offices
MCs don't send out mixed trays and have not done for months now. 1C and 2C go right through the system in separate trays. The only way they can be getting mixed up is if your DO is mixing them up. Tracked gets sorted on separate frames and isn't sent out in the same trays as 1C and 2C, again it has been like that for months.
If the tray is a MECH TRAY then it'll have 2C which is due for delivery. How much more do I need to dumb it down so that people can understand how the system works.
Think it's your DO badly run that is the problem.

That reply completely ignores the fact that most DOs do not have the ability to tip trays out and re-sort them again by machine if they arrive mixed 1C and 2C but in delivery order; it can only come from the feeding MC or CSS-equipped feeding DO doing it, not the actual delivery workers.

And no need to be so arrogant and demeaning

That is uncalled for it ignores how management on the ground administers it and places the blame on the posties, not the system. If the tray is a MECH TRAY then it'll have 2C, which is due for delivery. How much more do I need to dumb it down so that people can understand how the system works?

If a 2C item arrives in a mech tray then it is due for delivery. How many times do people have to be told that before it sinks in. The DTS system only releases items which are due for delivery. Is an explanation of what a mech tray is, or how the DTS system works needed?TrueBlueTerrier wrote: ↑Yesterday, 14:12That reply completely ignores the fact that most DOs do not have the ability to tip trays out and re-sort them again by machine if they arrive mixed 1C and 2C but in delivery order; it can only come from the feeding MC or CSS-equipped feeding DO doing it, not the actual delivery workers.![]()

Re: DM26 First Class/Second Class/DSA adherence in individual offices
It's the wild west out there. Absolutely no individual responsibility. Simply delaying the workload is making the next core delivery harder. Why would anyone stand back and let it happen? If you highlight anything it's the complete lack of understanding at the coalface. Ignorance isn't bliss and it won't fix the problems.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑Yesterday, 14:17If a 2C item arrives in a mech tray then it is due for delivery. Everyone is responsible for making things work. Just delaying the work out of sheer ignorance is not going to change anything.TrueBlueTerrier wrote: ↑Yesterday, 14:12That reply completely ignores the fact that most DOs do not have the ability to tip trays out and re-sort them again by machine if they arrive mixed 1C and 2C but in delivery order; it can only come from the feeding MC or CSS-equipped feeding DO doing it, not the actual delivery workers.![]()

I blame my manager for a lot of things but not sure what control they have over what the MC sends us.
Maybe things work differently to your bubble
