No one comes on social media and says their unit is working because they will be accused of being a manager or worse.
Our office is working! Everyone's pretty chilled, fatigue isn't a massive issue, duties are achievable.

I mean, that's because we all just bring loads of stuff back every day, but still. I'm happy with it.
I just had a thought, what could someone be accused of being that's worse than a manager? A union leader maybe? :dance

-DM26 not working

-No equalisation

-5.15pm finishes.

-Huge numbers of offices without reps or have useless reps.

The union is weak.

It wouldn't make any difference if an office was fully resourced before deciding to implement DM26 anyway. Within a day or two, people go off on the sick and the office gets into a mess the same way as it was always going to regardless.
The offices near us that were fully staffed on deployment are coping. Only because they are using their now spare staff to clear the office.
So fully staffed is over staffed.
They are trying to make us believe that all of the problems are down to manning, nothing to do with not carrying out a proper revision before implementation.

I firmly believe that they don’t want any type of revision as that will show up the difference in duty lengths from area to area and office to office. Offices where DM26 is working are staffed and also had 4 hour duty spans before taking on the extra.

Trying to make changes on this level without getting the correct base data is just stupid, it’s no wonder it’s going as bad as it is. It’s not like they had no data before that showed rounds were unachievable

It's easy to get tunnel vision looking at your own frame and lose sense about what's happening around you so I always like to speak to colleagues to get a sense of how the office is doing. All it takes is one question regarding the previous day and they'll tell you about their entire week. Thus, as we reach the end of our six week journey (urgh)...
  • Pairings are mostly fine. Are they taking their pound of flesh off the third frame? Hell no. There is as much scope as there was before DM26, which is to say: none. Clear one side and do 1C and packets on the other same as before. They can pile as much as they want on people but when finish time approaches it'll get cut off regardless. If it's quiet it'll not get done either - there's a lot of hazards out there to risk assess. The company f****d us with the last network review and now it can get f****d.
  • Singletons are struggling. Since pairings aren't touching the third frame, all the 1C and packets (who am I kidding, just the latter) become the singletons' problem. So then the heavy side doesn't clear and then it's two days before you get back to that one and meanwhile the other side didn't clear either... and before you know it loops haven't been out in a fortnight.
  • No idea about 50/50s. We have very few and I haven't heard them grumbling. Some of them are definitely over the moon they've yet again dodged ever experiencing P&L while those who would have liked to continue working solo are now raging. Perhaps they do have scope to bail out nearby duties, but as there are very few it's not like they can be everywhere especially as they're naturally on the geographic periphery.
I said we were understaffed and I was told on here that DM26 absolutely positively couldn't be implemented until that was dealt with. Well, the LTB says we're not alone in disregarding that proviso. Merry Christmas everyone!
The machine stops.

This

We were promised a revision 3 years ago but it never got past the planning stage. The easiest option for managers is to say that we are short staffed and need more duties rather than re-balance all the walks properly. This prevents us from having an immediate full structural revision and in our office it's the singletons who are either clearing their own duties or doing 50/50 that benefit.

And therein lies the circle of doom.....

More new entrants get put on the impossible paired walks that have days worth of mail/D2Ds and experience the sh*tshow firsthand. There's no incentive for them to work any harder/faster than their legacy colleague when they are acutely aware that they on inferior terms. The EQ promised by the CWU might have made many of them full-time temporarily but without paid breaks, the delivery supplement and a worse OT rate; they aren't really on equal terms. Many are also due in 40 mins earlier than legacy employees, meaning RM effectively gets another 40 mins work out of them every day.

Some have already left while others openly talk about leaving, only to be replaced by another cohort of hopefuls recruited for "peak" and xmas. Unless the underlying duties are properly reviewed and rebalanced I don't see how simply putting more people in the office fixes anything in the long term. At some point RM management really needs to get a grip on the actual workload and structure of the duties rather than continually trying to solve a structural problem with added recruitment.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Not to pick at what you are saying, but pairings aren't really fine then if they aren't taking the 1/3 extra.
This was noticed very early at ours that management would try and put the extra 1/3 (or 2/3 if 2 people) onto the solo in the 3 piece.

So it's Sunday, I've just woken up tired. Isn't this supposed to be less fatiguing?

The Saturday elephant in the room. So we had 3 ppl left in office putting d t ds in , thankless task , most have 5 each. Only managed a handful of full frames , and its a f k,, on the shoulder elbows and back all day doing that, and a waste of time . Not productive at all. !! Staff back early , just standing about mostly. Why not just make it mon - fri ! Whats happening elsewhere?

I'm sure the duties that got their door to doors put in for them wouldn't deem it a waste of time.
There had to be something to do for staff not going out on delivery on a Saturday and indoor work was the solution. Letting some staff go Mon-Fri won't happen.

The non drivers are the lucky ones, I would rather stay in on a sat doing d2d instead of going out covering two full walks of parcels and packets, Saturday's are getting to be one of the worse days, well actually everyday now is to much stress and pressure.
