Re: DM26 First Class/Second Class/DSA adherence in individual offices
To those that are suggesting we do this by the book. Should we really put all the first class in, the blind stuff, the foreign stuff and the DSA released stuff, then the parcels up. Then check every other letter, magazine to see if it's indeed consequential so we can take that too?

What we should do is fully prep both light and heavy frames then take all the mail for any properties which also have a 1c &/or Tracked item but for some reason RM & the CWU are obsessed with both sides of the frame being clear, even if there are trays full of unprepped mail sat under the frame.funkflex55 wrote: ↑25 Sep 2026, 21:24To those that are suggesting we do this by the book. Re: DM26 First Class/Second Class/DSA adherence in individual offices
Everything released by the DTS is due for delivery, that has not changed at all. The only thing that has changed is that provided an item hasn't hit the time limit for the product used, if it's the "light day" for the walk it won't get released.sorefeet17 wrote: ↑25 Sep 2026, 20:29I think you need to spend some time at the sharp end and what that involves now.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑25 Sep 2026, 18:31That's a standard part of the DTS and has been for a couple of years now, that's not new.sorefeet17 wrote: ↑25 Sep 2026, 18:20I get loads of non first class in the mech, I don't care if its reached its limit, if that's the case they should of released it earlier.
I am not wasting my time and energy delivering a tv license reminder to the top floor of some flats, it will get thrown in the tomorrow box, and once its in there who would know that it should of gone out?
If this is an issue it should be sorted out before it gets to a delivery office, not making our job impossible.
Just wait until RM start doing random checks and using test letters, it sounds like there are going to be quite a few DOs getting into trouble.
It may have been the standard part of DTS, but before DM26 it didn't make any difference because everything went out, and it would be virtually every office in the country getting in trouble if they started doing checks.
Unless the missorts are flagged as manual they'll go straight to the machines. RM are focusing on maximising what we put through the machines, thicker stuff that we'd have once sent out as manual now have to go as mechMr Rush wrote: ↑25 Sep 2026, 21:01I had a missort last summer for a farm in Northern Ireland due inspection and no matter how much I obliterated the orange barcodes the bastard thing turned up in my sequenced six days in a row. That was not my first battle with the CSS machine. There's just the standard 'missorts' pigeonhole on IPS so I'm going to blame this on the MC not reprocessing them correctly.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑25 Sep 2026, 20:14If a missort was machine sorted IT MUST go back as a manual otherwise it'll go back to the machine which will sort it to the address encoded in the orange barcodes.

It`s easier to take a tray of unprepped out of camera shot when you`re sending your area manager a shot of a clear frame.TopperGas wrote: ↑25 Sep 2026, 21:49What we should do is fully prep both light and heavy frames then take all the mail for any properties which also have a 1c &/or Tracked item but for some reason RM & the CWU are obsessed with both sides of the frame being clear, even if there are trays full of unprepped mail sat under the frame.funkflex55 wrote: ↑25 Sep 2026, 21:24To those that are suggesting we do this by the book. Have they started installing black boxes hanging from the ceiling in DOs?WalkerX wrote: ↑25 Sep 2026, 22:02It`s easier to take a tray of unprepped out of camera shot when you`re sending your area manager a shot of a clear frame.TopperGas wrote: ↑25 Sep 2026, 21:49What we should do is fully prep both light and heavy frames then take all the mail for any properties which also have a 1c &/or Tracked item but for some reason RM & the CWU are obsessed with both sides of the frame being clear, even if there are trays full of unprepped mail sat under the frame.funkflex55 wrote: ↑25 Sep 2026, 21:24To those that are suggesting we do this by the book. The algorithm does all that for you. The workload should be segregated to prevent cold calling. I understand it's not perfect. However it's better than creating more work the next day. It's worth noting that the CWU says it works. The CWU agree that there is time on Monday and Tuesday to deliver 70% each day of the unaddressed mail. If that's not the case you won't prove that by delaying the workload.funkflex55 wrote: ↑25 Sep 2026, 21:24To those that are suggesting we do this by the book. I've seen the DTS bundles that we get and understand that if we're playing to rules that should all go out. But going through all the manual stuff would take ages if you're checking every one against the frame. I don't think anyone at ours does that and in the company it must be rare thing! You end up going there the following day anyway most of the time.tramssirhc wrote: ↑26 Sep 2026, 07:17The algorithm does all that for you. The workload should be segregated to prevent cold calling. Same and it's the ones that are completing before finish time that think they're hard done by unless they can get back early, it's madness we're in the bedding in period and rep reckons if folk are finishing early they'll remove a duty

Re: DM26 First Class/Second Class/DSA adherence in individual offices
Well, today on a Saturday I was delivering two 50/50 frames, so "Packets and 1c only" supposedly.
In one of the frames which I prepped myself the UK Mail/2nd class/Other DSA in the sequenced tray outnumbered "1c, NHS, Articles for the Blind" about 10 to 1.
Add to that all the 2nd class for all the businesses which have letterboxes because I "Was going there anyway".
With everything that was supposed to go out according to RM the frame just looked like any other pre-DM26 day. There was about a 50% call rate in some blocks of flats on that duty.
It was absolutely not possible to get all that delivered within my time. Two frames worth of packets and all that 2nd class too with the earliest finish of the week?
Not even close.
Once again what RM believes we can do, what is in the wording of the agreement, and what is actually practically possible are all at odds.

How many of the 2C was there also a packet for or a flat (some MCs sort flats with machines)?Splappy_McSplap wrote: ↑27 Sep 2026, 02:35Well, today on a Saturday I was delivering two 50/50 frames, so "Packets and 1c only" supposedly.

Re: DM26 First Class/Second Class/DSA adherence in individual offices
As an example I had a block of flats with about 20 flats. For that building I had about 10 UKMail type letters. I had 1 first class letter and 1 tracked packet for that building. Zero flats.

You’re only supposed to take 1st class mail and tracked on SaturdaySplappy_McSplap wrote: ↑27 Sep 2026, 05:49As an example had a block of flats with about 20 flats. For that building I had about 10 UKMail type letters. I had 1 first class letter and 1 tracked packet for that building. Zero flats.

Re: DM26 First Class/Second Class/DSA adherence in individual offices
On a Saturday you only do first class and tracked! It is so simple yet management across the country is so poor that even this simple directive can't be implemented or instructed properly.
All the second class/DSA sorted in the IPS, Buddy boxes etc is to be delivered on a Monday. You don't even need to prep your frame on a Saturday! In fact you shouldn't be! All you need to do is make sure you have all your first class so its wise to go through the IPS mail then simply leave the rest of the mail for Monday.
This also gives you the maximum time to get the 1st and tracked delivered due to not having to prep your duty.
If you're done early then you see if management need you to cover 1st or tracked in another area. If everything is covered then you can start prepping your D2Ds at the office and if time allows prep the mail that has come into the office. This however is at the bottom of the list in terms of priorities on a Saturday.
