DM26 First Class/Second Class/DSA adherence in individual offices
We have the new sorting frames with the pink 1st class sorting frame for letters, and the others in blue/yellow.
As far as I can tell, the agreement states that "1c and parcels only" are to be delivered on the 50/50 "light" half or the "light" job of the pods.
In our office second class and DSA items are arriving in the sequenced tray for the light job (with no 1c letter for that address), second class and DSA letters and flats are being sorted into the pink first class only sorting frame and second class and DSA items are being sorted into the frame of the light job in empty slots with no already existing 1st class items.
Various staff are insisting that if these second class and DSA items (which by my count today are outnumbering the first class letters in the frame 2 or 3 to 1) have been put into the sequenced tray or into the 1st class pigeon hole in the letter sorting frame, then they must be delivered that day. This multiplies the attendance calls for letters on the light job by 2 or 3 which significantly increases the delivery time of that job and in our office is clearly causing jobs to bring back mail due to lack of time unnecessarily.
As far as I can tell, the agreement specifically states "1c and parcels only" for the light job and for Saturdays.
Can someone here clear this up for me please?

I thought if the MC's sent it then it has to go as they hold 2nd class back until it needs to be delivered.

It's the data from packet and flat sorting machines, maybe the machines at the superhub feeding into the DTS algorithm. Also some might be where they've hit the time limit for the product used.

Been told that if 2C is amongst the 1C to be sorted on IPS it is there because it is has reached the time limit of when it should be delivered.
Who knows if that's correct

Re: DM26 adherence in individual offices
I was told the same thing this morning. It literally tripled my letter calls on the "light" job.
The agreement I have here says:
"Two of these 4 walks will deliver 1st class and parcels only Monday
to Friday and 2 will deliver all mail Monday to Friday. Three individuals will be allocated
to these four walks."
"Second class, DSA and all other non-priority letters will be delivered every other day
Monday to Friday"
There are also various international letters being put in with the first class stuff. This is significantly increasing the "light" job workload.
I would like some kind of clear answer because I am hearing conflicting things every day since our office went live.

As above replies the 2c that comes in the sequenced and 1c trays will generally have reached it's time limit however also as per what spacephoenix said we've noticed on a few occasions there'll be an accompanying parcel for that address, maybe a coincidence but it seems it is the case that parcels are now triggering the release of 2c items

Re: DM26 First Class/Second Class/DSA adherence in individual offices
Any 2c on the light side that’s delivered on the day doesn’t go out at ours, it’s put under the frame in trays for the next day when it’s all products for that duty.

I’ve not noticed this happen, tbh there’s so much to do in prep now I might have missed it- certainly they aren’t delivered together in a bundle.

Re: DM26 First Class/Second Class/DSA adherence in individual offices
A simple way to understand this is to refer to the mech trays as due mail, anything in the mech sequenced/sorted mail that goes straight to your frame is DUE MAIL for that day. This is also true for anything that comes in a first class manual trays on IPS.
There are many reasons for 2nd or DSA mail to be present in the trays which include 2nd class mail possibly delayed elsewhere or mis-sorted previously and the algorithms identifying that a parcel or first class letter is already going to that address. Don't forget that all international mail and letters for the blind are treated as first class too.

Normally come through in the box with the 1C and then go into your 1C IPS pigeonholes.
Our manager is very hot (at the moment) on the fact that everything in the 1C pigeonholes must be kept separate from the other IPS and must be delivered that day

It's probably only a matter of time before manual parcel scanning data also feeds into the DTS algorithm.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑Today, 20:17As above replies the 2c that comes in the sequenced and 1c trays will generally have reached it's time limit however also as per what spacephoenix said we've noticed on a few occasions there'll be an accompanying parcel for that address, maybe a coincidence but it seems it is the case that parcels are now triggering the release of 2c items

Re: DM26 First Class/Second Class/DSA adherence in individual offices
Whilst I've noticed international letters and Articles for the Blind coming through the 1C mech bundle, at no point have we ever been explicitly told they are 1C. The cecogram pouches containing audio recordings are starting to have 'First Class' printed on them which removes any doubt since 'freepost' doesn't hack it anymore.
As for 2C coincidentals
The machine stops.

Anything not 1st class or hospital doesn’t go out at all on ours on the light side nobody knows what is coincidental Mail as people aren’t finishing on time as it isMr Rush wrote: ↑50 minutes agoWhilst I've noticed international letters and Articles for the Blind coming through the 1C mech bundle, at no point have we ever been explicitly told they are 1C. As for 2C coincidentalsnot happening. To be honest, plenty of 1C finds itself back at the office. You think management are going to tell people to ditch T24s so the 1C clears? Get real.
To be honest sometimes by the time you’ve driven 5 packets on say 20 call loop or pouched it and walked around the management is finding the savings aren’t as good as they thiought
