Thousands of households in Peterborough and the surrounding area continue to be affected by Royal Mail delivery delays into mid-September.
In August, the Peterborough Telegraph heard from hundreds of concerned residents - particularly those in the PE2 postcode - who said that they can often go weeks on end without receiving post.
One PE2 resident said that they had received a hospital letter 18 days after the appointment date had passed.
Whilst delays in the PE26-PE29 postcodes - served by the Huntingdon Delivery Office - now appear to have eased, problems persist in four other postcodes.
In recent weeks, Royal Mail has been informing residents in postcodes PE2, PE7, PE8 and PE9 that they too should expect delivery delays due to operational struggles at the Orton Southgate Delivery Office.
The PE2 postcode covers thousands of addresses south of the River Nene, while PE7 relates to areas such as Whittlesey and Yaxley.
Those with a PE8 postcode live west of the city in North Northamptonshire, with the PE9 postcode covering Stamford and the surrounding areas.
Delivery delays in these four postcode areas began earlier this summer and look set to continue into early autumn.
Each day, Royal Mail’s Service Update website shares a list of postcodes across the UK where residents can expect delays.
A Royal Mail spokesperson told the Peterborough Telegraph: “We take the delivery of mail very seriously and know how important it is that customers receive their post on time. “At times, short-term local issues can affect deliveries in some areas. When this happens, we proactively list affected areas on our service update page so customers know where there may be disruption. “The postcodes listed cover the areas served by the delivery office and do not mean that every address within them is affected. Our posties are still out delivering every day, but some individual routes may experience small delays. Where that happens, any mail not delivered that day is prioritised for the next working day.
