It doesn't matter if coincidental mail is getting sent, it's getting left in boxes as that's the only way to even get close to completing on this piece of s**t system.

As for IPS, that needs fully clearing because the sorters put the letters in one of the 2 duty numbers so you have to go through them and make sure the walk that is getting done gets all the mail taken.

Same here, all the leftovers from buddy boxes and ips are left under the frame for tomorrow.

Very soon data from flat sorting machines and packet sorting machines (I'm assuming that also includes the ones in the super hubs) will feed into the DTS algorithm so any DPs with a packet sorted by a machine or flat sorted by a machine will have all the mail released for that DP.

Do you know what proportion of flats are machine sorted? I thought they were mainly sorted manually?

Not all MCs have got flat sorting machines, certainly not the smaller MCs, we don't. We have a flat frame for T24 and one for T48. Half of the rest of the flat frames we have for sorting 1C, the other half for sorting 2C. 1C and 2C, T24 and T48 each get boxed up into separate trays but all the work for a DO will go onto the same york. We sort Tracked letters in the flat frames, we've not yet reached a point where it's worth sorting them separate.

Also, most of our flats come through in "buddy trays" - all the flats for two walks are all mixed up together. What is the logic behind that? Why isn't it sorted down to individual walk level before it gets to a delivery office? So much time is wasted sorting through all that to find the stuff that needs to go today and what can be left for tomorrow, depending on which of the walks is having a blue or yellow day.

Are they sorted by machine? My guess is it's down to how many outputs the machine has. If I had to guess, across all the DOs we cover there must be over 900 walks and we're one of the smaller MCs. There's no way that any flat sorting machine is going to have 900 outputs.

About a month in to DM26 and NOBODY brings Tracked back. I'm astonished really.

It's a weird "Culture of Fear" type office that I currently work.

All the usual traits - coming in 45 minutes early for free, rushing around, skipping breaks, staying out till 5pm etc.

Nobody dares challenge the status quo for fear of ostracisation, or looking weak because "so and so can do it, why can't you" sort of vibes.

Not like that at ours. I’m on time , take breaks and finish on time and brought back all 1st class letter with about 50 plus tracked.

Our office is same mate all the 50/50's can't believe there luck while us in the pod have been given around 2 hours 2 much work each day I am working to time at the minute, around 50 tracked getting failed daily, I have asked a manager if they can come out with me to show me how to do it obviously they didn't.

Same. 50/50s are laughing whilst the pods (particularly the van shares) are languishing. Only RM could make easier duties even easier and hard duties much harder.

They've added on a 3rd of another heavy town duty to an already heavy town job, and yet have the nerve to fail the duty every few days. Everyone working the pods has simply stopped caring at this point with stacks of mail either not going out or being left. Same with parcels.

Buddy trays are to cut down on space occupied in the lorries by half-filled trays. Originally, back when it took an hour to throw a walk in, the buddies were simply an FT walk and the associated PT walk that the full timer would prep as part of their indoor workload. With the last few years of shenanigans with walks popping out of and sort-of back into existence and bits being bolted onto and off of frames and volumes dropping off generally, some of the buddy trays have come to contain manual for six different duties.
