So many people come on here and say this, yet fail to acknowledge how much managers harass, question and argue with you every single time you bring something back. At least in my experience.Splappy_McSplap wrote: ↑08 Sep 2026, 11:33^^ This guy gets it.Duesouth wrote: ↑02 Sep 2026, 20:44I clock in on time, take breaks, do a full van inspection, drive sensibly, no rushing or running around, no shortcuts on delivery, make sure gates are shut properly (unless left open), make sure Specials are done before 1pm, make sure all mail is posted through the letterbox, I will casually walk, like I'm walking in the park on a Sunday (there's no mandatory speed), clock out on time, go home, chill and forget about all the sh!+ you left behind.
Yeah, the above is easy if your managers don't bother you.
Unfortunately, the CWU doesn't stop the harassment. If each rep asked every single postie to report back to them every single time a manager falsely claimed they are not working hard enough, then managers would be reported en masse by the whole office and sacked and it would massively reduce the toxic culture within Royal Mail.

The managers bother everyone.
That's what they do. That's the kind of people they are.
Some posties fold, some don't.
Fold and next time that manager won't think twice...you just make it worse for yourself.
The solution?

Tell them to put everything they have said on paper, dated and timestamped. Keep a log. As long as you are doing everything by the book they don’t have a leg to stand on. They can’t physically make anyone walk faster to try and complete this impossible taskSplappy_McSplap wrote: ↑09 Sep 2026, 19:58The managers bother everyone.

They'll get told by their managers that either they resume DM26 or they'll be replaced.qwerty2 wrote: ↑09 Sep 2026, 20:08Our managers gave up after day 2 of dm26Splappy_McSplap wrote: ↑09 Sep 2026, 19:58The managers bother everyone.

We are only 4 days in and loads of mail and we think over 1k tracked are coming back per day and no first class are being done because we’ve been told to do parcels.
Going really well.

Re: how long till you give up on the RM s**t show?
I did some mail yesterday, i bought it back 6 days ago and has sat under the frame since then ( there is still some under there). It had first class in it and even a tracked moonpig . Sad really, but thats how it is now managers had nobody to do it as the whole place is struggling. They are getting people in on days off and getting the sorting done on overtime in a morning but thats not a solution to the problem we are now in ?
Ive not cleared one day yet of dm26 ( single pod person ). And after 3 weeks i cant see me ever doing it all . When it gets busy i doubt i will even get the packets done ,never mind the mail.
Oh and 2 weeks d2d sat under the frame on both sides . Which is a common sight across the office.

They’ll have to start telling them it’s only some parcels we prioritise because 24’s are coming back too.nightcrawler wrote: ↑10 Sep 2026, 17:30But RM keep telling the media we don’t prioritise parcels lol.

Re: how long till you give up on the RM s**t show?
I've been in the job 12 years, hardly ever gone off sick, but now I'm ready to go off with stress. If not stress it'll be lower back pain or all the other musculoskeletal conditions I'm starting with since the mail got heavier. WHERE IS HEALTH AND SAFETY? I mean 3 days of mail ffs. I do lots of flats!!!! The parcels are heavier too. My lower back is playing up with scanning them in the morning - lifting them out of one york to scan and put into another york. And now some idiot decided to get bigger Yorks to hold more parcels, and when you're scanning the parcels in the morning (even the so-called smaller ones), all that bending down and reaching to the back of the new wider style yorks is another reason to f**k up the body. Not to mention I've lost count LITERALLY LOST COUNT how many times I am getting in and out of the bloody van on a daily basis due to the PARCELS and 1st class mail!!!!!! Part of my route is a main road, really busy with traffic, and I have to drive along and stop to deliver a flimsy first-class letter here and there and each time I get in and out of the van I nearly get hit by a friggin car because I have to stop in a bus lane and the traffic warden doesn't let us park on pavements. And back to the Yorks - there was barely enough room to manoeuvre up and down an aisle with the old-style Yorks, and now they've brought in wider ones ...well, this is going to be fun. Total s**t show. Not to mention how long it's actually taking to get out of the office in the mornings now! Drive to work in rush-hour traffic, drive home in rush-hour traffic. Be out in the dark in winter and the scorching sun in summer. What is actually appealing about this job?

Yorks only come in two sizes, the standard york and a mini york. Anything else isn't a york. Ever since RM have started taking out of service yorks where the trio of RFID tags are knackered the amount of out of service yorks is rapidly increasing.annem wrote: ↑10 Sep 2026, 19:17I've been in the job 12 years, hardly ever gone off sick, but now I'm ready to go off with stress. That might explain the sudden hardon this summer for removing all 'idle' yorks from the unit once deliveries are out the door. All the ones between the frames, all the corexes in the bullring, all out onto the loading bay to be shipped back to the MC.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑10 Sep 2026, 19:55Ever since RM have started taking out of service yorks where the trio of RFID tags are knackered the amount of out of service yorks is rapidly increasing.
