Burnham-On-Sea MP Ashley Fox has raised his concerns in Parliament over Royal Mail delivery failures affecting residents across parts of the constituency.
Speaking in the House of Commons, Ashley Fox said residents felt “badly let down” after some had gone three weeks or more without a postal delivery over the summer.
He also highlighted reports from constituents who had visited their local sorting office in an attempt to collect time-sensitive post, only to be told that sacks of mail were still waiting to be sorted.
Ashley Fox called for a debate on how Royal Mail will be held to account for meeting the obligations attached to its licence.
Responding in the House, the Government described Royal Mail’s level of service as “unacceptable” and said a well-run postal service was something constituents should expect.
Ashley Fox MP said: “Going three weeks or more without receiving your post is simply not good enough. People rely on Royal Mail for important letters, medical appointments, bills and other time-sensitive correspondence.”
“I have raised these problems directly with Royal Mail and I have now taken the concerns of my constituents to Parliament. I expect a much better service for residents across Bridgwater, Burnham-On-Sea and our villages, and I will continue pressing for improvements.”
He added: “Last year I carried out a survey of Royal Mail performance across the constituency, and I will shortly be doing so again so that I can gather real-life evidence of residents’ experiences and hold Royal Mail to account.”

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
