Ok thanks, so you think its based on nothing? So its exactly the same as we are doing now, only with three staff? I thought there must be more to it, with something you could actually measure your performance against.
The pod system will only work if it’s set out properly. The single person does 2/3 of two walks one side heavy and one light. The two people do theirs plus one third of the other two (heavy and light also)
Now in the agreement they all should get help from the 50/50 walks but that doesn’t always seem to be the case.
Also no two people work the same or at the same speed.
It’s going to cause tension to say the least.
We’ve already asked for help from a 50/50, not a chance as they’re too busy. Of course you are, easiest duties in the office.

It's impossible to give figures for packets and mail rates as every road is different, all it's seems to be based on his how a regularly experienced postie copes with the duty.

Problem now is DM26 is basically all new duties due to delivering double/triple post so nobody really has a clue what's achievable, or even if DM26 will ever be achievable.

It seems madness to continue rolling out something which may never work, if all the stories are correct about failures now, peak will just be a total nightmare.

The standards are - If you don't complete the work then you aren't working hard enough. If you do complete the work then you'll be assigned more work soon.

Of the 8 offices near to us that have implemented DM26, 7 cleared on Wednesday and 1 failed by 500 letters.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Weirdly people seem to be of the opinion it’s working but are happy to ignore the fact it’s costing a fortune on extended deliveries and inward sorting on O/T. Hardly a success

Something i continue to ram home to my manager is that it is not ok for him to criticise or talk down to us following a heavy day whereby we’ve not been able to complete (well, deliver all Tracked and 1st) whilst ignoring the fact we’ve delivered more vs the lighter day yesterday.

Too often the “data” is ignored and performance only questioned when stuff is brought back, even if you have done far more than people on “easier” jobs.

But there is no heavy and light day

One walk and third is heavy and the other light and they switch

But every day is still the same workload in theory - its not one day you have a light day and next a heavy day just one half of your duty is heavy and the other light each day
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Fetch it back, it's in the agreement the 50/50 must be helping if they don't that's the managers issue don't work over just bring it back, I've heard lots of 50/50 rounds especially on the longer days are struggling to fill there hours crawling round at a snails pace while the pods are being pushed to the limits, I'll be going steady in my pod and trust me what doesn't get done within the time will be coming back that will force the managers to get on the 50/50 jobs

Unfortunately, you are massively overestimating the capabilities of Royal Mail planners and managers

This ^^^^^

Our office sections were briefed (about 25 walks in each) - we had a brief with local reps and an area rep and management present and when this concern was brought up, the Area Rep piped up and said that firstly if it turns out that the 50/50's need more work, it is the managers job to allocate that work, whether it's more indoor work (taken off the pods) or outdoor (loops/oversize off the pods) and secondly If it doesn't happen it's a management issue - there was a bit of hands in pockets and feet shuffling by the managers at this point. It's not up to individual or groups of posties to sort out.

I left some in and brought some back, much to the obvious annoyance of the management. I ain’t going over doing this shitshow.

Well done you. If we had a decent union we could all stand together.

Some people are way too invested in the job. Start and finish on your time. Bring mail back if needed. Why give a bollocks if it works or not. The mail can sit in frames to next year for all I care. You still get paid and now have more Saturdays off. It’s far better 👍

Our pods are paired with a 50/50 rural, we very rarely get help, they are used to cover uncovered duties.
