yep couldn't agree more, But my rep/boss was telling folk they'll be fine, it won't involve them, they'll stay as they are, we go over next week, folk in tears on the floor, stress levels through the roof, 3 handed notice in. Gaffer now saying you voted for it. Shame folk didn't see past themselvesBenacreNick wrote: ↑20 Aug 2026, 14:21More to the point, why did the cwu members vote this in. Once the PEC recommends a yes vote then enough members will vote yes to get it over the line.BenacreNick wrote: ↑20 Aug 2026, 14:21More to the point, why did the cwu members vote this in. When a no vote was the obvious choice.
If offices got to keep their rough start/finish times, Wallington weeks, singleton duties, scheduled attendance, and a few other bits and bobs then plenty would vote yes.
The fear of losing all that is a big driver.

A classic manager stock phrase is 'your union agreed to it', which I believe qualifies in linguistics as a Thought Terminating Cliché. 'You voted for it' goes a step further and assigns blame for what they tacitly recognise is a shitshow. It's not like the company was bound to the result! Martin Walsh was saying they'd bring in the ODM if we didn't vote for DM26. The appropriate response would be 'you implemented it'.
The machine stops.

Well that right there is partly why we're in the situation we are. Legacy staff had an "I'm alright Jack" attitude when two-tier contracts came in. Now the company are actively trying to make life difficult for the legacy staff so they quit. Divide and conquer at it's finest.Valentina@1 wrote: ↑Yesterday, 10:50Just disappeared and left everyone in complete chaos,it’s disgusting what’s happening at minute, lot of legacy staff just can’t cope, moving around constantly,no set walk, overload work, basically being forced out job.

The fundamental principle of a union is to stick together. We didn't do that at the end of the 2022 dispute and look where we are now. I mean the CWU HQ didn't even get guarantees for their own reps that were suspended before agreeing the pay deal, that's how out of touch we are.

I’d say every single new start at our office (many willing to stay before DM26 was implemented) have openly stated they’re looking for a way out and as soon as something else comes up they’re leaving.

At the rate people are leaving in my office, DM27 had better be 50 into 1. They’ll only be the COM and the cleaner left.Woody84 wrote: ↑Yesterday, 12:20

Or perhaps even earlier? The great strike of 1971 known as the 1st national postal strike in Britain over pay led to the UPW facing financial ruin as General secretary Tom Jackson capitulated.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Now now everybody.
Mr Sir Master of the Universe Lord Dave Ward is totally exhausted right now.
He has been too busy counting the £20 million + revenue he gets from us to bother with the riff-raff.
He will be back screwing us over soon enough.

Whilst i understand what you are saying about "I'm alright Jack" attitude i am struggling to think what we personally could do about it.Saturn1 wrote: ↑Yesterday, 10:59Well that right there is partly why we're in the situation we are. The union had their overwhelming ticket to take industrial action and bottled it, so to blame the legacy is a little rich, i would lay it a RM and the unions door end of.
I was talking to a 25yr former colleague yesterday and he says that the new method kicks in on the 2nd of september and he expects to join me in retirement, along with plenty of other legacy, by the end of that month.

Funny, because I seem to remember going on strike for 17 days to try and stop a two tier workforce. Nothing "I'm alright jack" about that. Stupid thing to say!Saturn1 wrote: ↑Yesterday, 10:59Well that right there is partly why we're in the situation we are. Legacy staff had an "I'm alright Jack" attitude when two-tier contracts came in.
