Even for those who have been using their cars - it will obviously take longer. AND the use of private cars is to be banned anyway at the same time this is introduced. AND there will be nowhere for you to park your car at the DO because the car park will be overflowing with the new vehicles.

I guess RM won't have to pay for the vehicles anyway - NO massive investment whatsoever - 'cause they will simply lease them all for nominal weekly charge - which is tax deductible into the bargain.

the leasing thing is spot on , all RM will have to do is ;probably put diesel into petrol cars ! , one plan muted was paying up or more likely getting rid of through discipline / RMAP , wagon drivers and putting non union agency drivers in even if those agencies are charging RM high rates and yes lease lorries / artics out .

It's also more attractive for privatization/ split ups , not having a big fleet of old vehicles to maintain and depreciate as a millstone round someone's neck

There is a divisive and destructive element with these team working things through the back door , just another way of diluting the union influence , these days RM CAN be more subtle and devious about it .

Will never happen! It was a bit like starburst that was at the time "the new way of working", even after so called successful trials and the RM courier beefing this up to be the next best thing, it completely fell flat on its arse.

People work at different rates, walking speed is not a competition, you walk at what feels comfortable to you and the weight you are carrying. Some staff who didn't want to work overtime and rightly so was one of the main reasons this didn't work.

BAN OVERTIME AND GET CONTRACTUAL HOURS INCREASED!!!

A tumble dryer only weighs 30 odd kilos, so thats 2 pouches, what about the other 80+ kilos for the other bags, there must be a weight limit for cars.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet

Just keep on walking down never ending streets

I am not getting in one - check out the video on this page its in German but you don't need to speak it to understand the result:

and an American report giving US scores for its tests. I might not drive them either.

We've just been told about this for next year.
3.5 hour walks increasing to 5 hour walks. 2 Buddy vans for the
walks furthest from the DO. Everyone else using trolleys, bikes are banned.
Oh, and start times to possibly go to 11AM.

What a shame the hierarchy are intent on ruining what was a half decent job.

11am starting time even if that's when you start the walk not when you start work I don't think is legal. Unless they change the USO as I am uncertain but fairly sure that part of the USO is deliveries in Urban areas should normally be done before 2.00pm. Even with a 3 1/2 hr walks that means that those at the end of the delivery would be normally failing the USO.

Anyone who understands the USO better than me could they say if I have it wrong or not :pray :pray

Sounds bang on to me. But unfortunately RM would rather change the USO than try to meet it.

All walks/routes have to be planned so the last letter is 2-30,that is what is happening down our way with the 4 day weeks.
The USO more or less states this.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
