ENGLAND cricketer Andrew Flintoff has been acquitted of speeding because prosecution notice was sent two days late.
The 30-year-old father of three was allegedly captured on camera driving at 87mph in a 50mph zone, but his lawyer Nick Freeman - known as Mr Loophole - said the prosecution had not followed the proper rules.

Today, at Liverpool Magistrates' Court, the all-rounder was told the Crown would offer no evidence.

Mr Flintoff was allegedly speeding in a temporary 50mph zone on the M62 near Huyton, Liverpool, on 1 July 2007.

Speaking outside court, Mr Freeman said: "It is fundamental in any speeding case that the notice is sent and received within 14 days."

But, he said, the document only arrived on July 19.

In court, Mr Flintoff spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

He declined to speak when he left court, but Mr Freeman added: "He is very relieved to have the matter disposed of.

"It happened last July and now he can concentrate on his cricket."

The crown had wanted to produce "bad character" evidence against Flintoff, said Sharon Bourne, prosecuting, but she then offered no evidence.
