Have been told by the manager there will be a resign but about 6-8 weeks after DM26 starts. This is to get everyone used to the new way of working. I wont hold my breath, too many influential people with minimal seniority risk losing decent walks.
Why would anyone want a resign? A Repick of vacant walks, yes, but a resign?
Its the only way to get the duty structure back.
That makes no sense
Why's that?
It makes no sense. Explain how putting all walks up for a resign, would get the duty structure back
Have a look at the reply I gave to your previous post.

You don’t have an answer then? Just repeating that it’s the only way to get the duty structure back.

My reply to you on your previous post:

Workers are reporting that this is the argument that is being advanced - there is insufficient change to trigger the process. Firstly that's not what the CWU signed up to. Secondly if an office survived the collapse of duty structures when the CWU agreed to collapse the structure for COVID and then the imposition of revisions post - 22 then it's a rarity.

Those advancing the argument that DM26 does not trigger the process are doing so to prevent the restoration of the pre-covid working conditions which empowered the rank and file. In fairness the return of that power was always going to be contested. Its on Walsh to enforce the agreement. Get ready for a LTB

Have a whole office resign won’t resolve the loss of the pre-Covid duty structure. It would simply put a body on every walk (you hope - depends on staffing level).

If you wanted to turn back the clock you’d have to make available, floater/day off cover positions on every division. Those positions have disappeared from most offices.

Not under DM26 they haven't and leave reserves are at a ratio of 1 to 6. Its a no go if that's not happening.

Well if an office is anything like ours with people sitting on decent duties that weren't advertised and they would never have got naturally it's a priority imho, it will provide a "reset" - back to basics back to seniority being the fair deciding factor for duty selection as opposed to being put on them for a while and then thinking they were entitled to staying on them.

The USO Agreement only specifies staffing levels. It doesn’t state that you have to reinstate the disappeared floater duties - which is what you want to happen.

So a resign won’t achieve what you want, which is to wind back the clock.

You could have a pick of floater positions in order reinstate the roles.

A Repick will do that. You just identify all the walks that are not an official pick and advertise them along with any other vacant walks.

A whole office resign is very disruptive because you would have numerous people moving to walks they don’t know and there won’t be enough staff to train anyone

A full resign is the only way to reset back to basics fair to everyone, you wouldn't have that many people landing on walks they don't know as most would select something they were familiar with and even so as the saying goes it's not rocket science/brain surgery is it, when anyone first started they didn't know any duty but lots had to do them with no training, for example I've been here 20 odd years and there's dutys I don't know but if I'm forced I'd have to suck it up and learn them without training

DM26 has floaters, or day off cover as they've called them. The agreement has leave reserves at 1 in 6. The agreement is that the TM1 must be fully staffed. This why the CWU agreed to triggering thx resign. I'm not winding the clock back. I'm defending an agreement that attempts to put right the injustice of collapsing duty structures and the post-22 revisions.

You are defending an Agreement and in that agreement it does not say that a resign HAS to happen. It only happens if agreed locally to have one.
