Reserves/Floaters and DM26
No resign in my office (cheers lads) I'm being displaced and all thats left is for me to be a reserve. If there was a resign i would have got a walk as I've done 30 years. As I'm a non driver, I'm hearing rumours that if there are weeks when no non driving duties are available i could be moved to other offices. This is not what our union rep said a few weeks ago, she said everyone who was displaced would get at least a rest day cover. I've a sneaky suspicion the union knew all along displaced non drivers were screwed.

Re: Reserves/Floaters and DM26
Contact your area rep.
We are going through it at the moment. You just have to decide if you have a repick before it starts or after the review.

Re: Reserves/Floaters and DM26
Like the other user posted there has to be a resign in the office because of the agreement What many offices are doing is temporarily allocating duties to people initially whilst Dm26 is being implemented. After this there has to be a full resign.
The other comment you made about rumours you may have to go to another office if there are no non-driving duties in the week -
How can there be weeks when non-driving duties are available?
There is only one driver required in a van share Monday to Friday. So 50 percent of van shares can be non drivers in the week.
Added to this HCT duties. I don't understand how somebody who has 30 years seniority would be in a position where there
is not a non-driving duty to be covered.
Unless you are in a office with mostly singleton vans or you are in a small office with many people that have more than 30 years
seniority then you won't have problems getting a duty.
Are you just wanting to have a dig at the Union or is this a real, legitimate concern because it doesn't make alot of sense.

Re: Reserves/Floaters and DM26
I work in an office where there are no HCT duties, all duties are either CDVs or DPRs. The pairing for a CDV is driver/non driver. But under this DM26, four walks, all previously done by non drivers, have been carved up to be shared by three, so four posties are without duties.reddevils wrote: ↑Today, 15:42Like the other user posted there has to be a resign in the office because of the agreement What many offices are doing is temporarily allocating duties to people initially whilst Dm26 is being implemented. Re: Reserves/Floaters and DM26
If they send you to another office, don't they have to get you from your office to the other one and back again? That can take some time so you end up with less time working.

Re: Reserves/Floaters and DM26
If you have 30 years seniority which would give you a duty then you need to talk to your union rep or find out who your area union rep is so you can escalate it it further.
Your situation seems quite unique in the fact you are in a very small office with no HCT's and a limited number of Van Shares.
It could be that they need two people who can drive on the van shares so that Saturday is always covered which is parcels only.
You being a non-driver would pose a problem to this from a manager's perspective.
Like I say management won't help you so find out who your area union rep is. You sholud be able to find their details on the Cwu website.

Re: Reserves/Floaters and DM26
The agreement is clear that there will be a resign and that the CWU members will decide when that repick takes place. The contractual requirement to drive should make no difference and in fact it is beneficial to prioritise the workers without a contractual requirement to drive because there needs to be enough drivers available under DM26. Displacing senior workers with no contractual obligation to drive into the leave reserves puts the operation at risk. This should be picked up by the regional group but it's worth bringing to the attention of the area and divisional rep. If you have no contact details speak to the branch. It is also worth writing to your branch explaining what is happeningBenson97 wrote: ↑Today, 14:34No resign in my office (cheers lads) I'm being displaced and all thats left is for me to be a reserve. Re: Reserves/Floaters and DM26
There's no such thing as non - drivers. Not all workers have a contractual obligation to undertake driving duties. Have you had any duties put back in for DM26?Benson97 wrote: ↑Today, 16:55Its a very small office, 16 walks, 12 walk holders, four of whom are non drivers.reddevils wrote: ↑Today, 16:49If you have 30 years seniority which would give you a duty then you need to talk to your union rep or find out who your area union rep is so you can escalate it it further.

As for your "no such thing as non drivers" comment, the office is out of the area, so we are all in CDVs, driver/non driver. All the shared vans have to be that way.

Re: Reserves/Floaters and DM26
If you're lapsing before DM26 you'll have duties put back in. The pod set up has to have two drivers. The third duty does not need to be held by someone who has a contractual obligation to undertake driving duties. A pod cannot have less than two workers who have to undertake driving duties.Benson97 wrote: ↑Today, 18:25Put back in?tramssirhc wrote: ↑Today, 17:32There's no such thing as non - drivers. Re: Reserves/Floaters and DM26
My office lost 4 duties, all previously done by non drivers. Those walks will each become the 4th walk in their pods, the ones split 3 ways.
A new rest day cover duty has been created but its to cover driving duties. So 4 non drivers are now reserves ie without a duty, which makes us basically obsolete in an office where most of the duties are for drivers.
Before DM26 there were 9 duties for non drivers.
Now there will be five.

Why can't the workers who are not obliged to drive go in the pods?Benson97 wrote: ↑Today, 19:19My office lost 4 duties, all previously done by non drivers. Those walks will each become the 4th walk in their pods, the ones split 3 ways.
