DM26 re pick

Post by Rage24 »

There's 29 duties on our DM26, 6 pods, 4 single drivers, 7 HCT's.

If im 27 on the seniority list should I definitely get a duty? Or will some duties be kept for part timers. (I'm also classed as DDA)

Probably a single driver if you're DDA. As working as a pair puts you under pressure to work at your partners pace.

Have a look at the agreement. Any adjustments are covered.

Nowadays having a duty is a bad thing. Best being a reserve then you don't have the full responsibility

Of course you do - when your on a duty it’s YOUR duty for that day - and everything’s on the pda and cameras in vans etc
Not doing the d2ds is the main thing but people on their own walks take weeks to do them all anyway

You don't have as much responsibility in front of frame. If your duty is way behind (ie trays under the fitting) then if your on it for the day you already know that duty is screwed so you just comfortably take what you need then you move onto the next duty the following day.
As a duty holder the manager starts to put pressure on you as they will expect you to chip away at the trays under the fitting and start clearing any outstanding households. Reserves never get this sort of pressure like a duty holder does.

I'm not talking about the vans and photos, it's mainly the indoor work and trying to clear the fitting there isn't as much pressure on reserves

If you don’t currently have a duty pick then no, you aren’t guaranteed to get one in a repick.

If however, you are currently on the same walk every day and it has been adjusted or used as your walk because you are covered by the Equality Act 2010, then your rep could argue that your walk is ring fenced

Why the heck aren't we getting on with the repicks now instead of waiting. People are currently learning the sorting and rounds they won't even pick into. Some have been put on floats learning 4 different duties when they won't even select that float, so might as well get on with the re-picks.

It's the same at our place but we're in the incredibly slow process of sorting out what extra the 50-50s are getting added from the struggling pods so it's on hold until people know what they're going to be doing on either the 50s or the pods, naturally some senior people who got kicked off their duties are wanting it sorted quicker, also we've started next year's holiday pick so folk need to know when their days off will fall so they can pick weeks around Saturdays off, no idea why it has to take so long it's being suggested we wait until after Christmas but there's no reason why we should.

But you’re not going to know your pick anyway. You might know part of it but there is also the extra bit and there will be no training. Training is a luxury that can only happen in an office with plenty of staff and those plenty are going to be gone as a consequence of DM26
