Re: DM26 - Is it working?
The "planning" will be something like "can you take 20 Tracked from Town pod 1 duty", on Monday & Tuesday that'll work fine, then on the Wednesday the singleton driver will say they've got far too many tracked to do extra and the manager will probably agree to avoid upsetting the old timer.
It's a barmy way to try and run offices.

Re: DM26 - Is it working?
120 Delivery units have deployed DM26 up to Monday 13th July.... all 120 are small and medium units.
I believe there are 1,200 total units across the country.
As it's now 20th July, I guess this is up from 120 now, so over 10% deployed.

Re: DM26 - Is it working?
In our office all the rurals are literally coming in early to do some easy indoor work then only having to take half of there frames out, I have said the manager it is going to create a full 2 tier workforce which it is, rurals in most cases are already easier and get far less volumes of parcels, when you are a pair the driver already has 2 frames of oversized parcels to deal with, it's always a sigh of relief when I get put on a rural for a few days.TopperGas wrote: ↑20 Jul 2026, 10:37The "planning" will be something like "can you take 20 Tracked from Town pod 1 duty", on Monday & Tuesday that'll work fine, then on the Wednesday the singleton driver will say they've got far too many tracked to do extra and the manager will probably agree to avoid upsetting the old timer.

Re: DM26 - Is it working?
Problem is, if you have a delivery point in the back end of nowhere, taking one 1st class letter isn't going to save you any driving time.mr hil. wrote: ↑19 Jul 2026, 23:23That is not how it is going to work, the singletons/rurals will get a set amount of extra work added to their rounds during the planning. This should be work taken off any unachievable shared/Pods to even the work load across the whole office. There will be no need for dragging it out, if a singleton/rural completes now then when they go to 50/50 they will have spare time that will allow them to absorb delivery points from failing walks. If you are on a failing shared duty now make sure during the planning you make your voice heard.funkflex55 wrote: ↑19 Jul 2026, 21:03I think we all knew that getting the rurals or Singleton duties to help wouldn't happen. Either because they cannot as they still have to drive the whole route or they won't because they just drag the work out and come back on time it needs stronger management or just some management! Maybe some team work too but it's every post person for themselves at RM, strange really.

Re: DM26 - Is it working?
No time saved for that particular house, agreed, but for many single/rurals doing the 50/50 method there will be a decent amount of time saved by only attending houses that have a 1c or tracked on the side when doing the 1C/tracked half days. Managers need to do their job and use the data available to them to deduce how much or how little capacity the rurals have when moving to 50/50. But they won't.Emohawk wrote: ↑22 Jul 2026, 18:57Problem is, if you have a delivery point in the back end of nowhere, taking one 1st class letter isn't going to save you any driving time.mr hil. wrote: ↑19 Jul 2026, 23:23That is not how it is going to work, the singletons/rurals will get a set amount of extra work added to their rounds during the planning. We start very soon and I’m quite optimistic… or perhaps just absolutely deluded.

Re: DM26 - Is it working?
Noted. So you are saying that the extra loops or DPs be permanently transferred onto the singleton/rural duties during the planning stage and not just expected to help out the paired walks on a day-to-day basis?mr hil. wrote: ↑19 Jul 2026, 23:23
That is not how it is going to work, the singletons/rurals will get a set amount of extra work added to their rounds during the planning. This should be work taken off any unachievable shared/Pods to even the work load across the whole office. There will be no need for dragging it out, if a singleton/rural completes now then when they go to 50/50 they will have spare time that will allow them to absorb delivery points from failing walks. If you are on a failing shared duty now make sure during the planning you make your voice heard.
If the work is permanently moved, then the singleton has to own and deliver it as part of their duty. Whereas if it's just temporary support, then the paired/shared walks are still effectively overloaded and relying on someone else to keep them afloat. And that doesn't sound like a proper revision to me.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: DM26 - Is it working?
We went live 3 weeks ago. The 50/50 duties clear everyday, even delivery all mail on the light side of the duty, which is supposed to stay in the fitting. The 50/50 duties also take a bit of a round which was removed before DM26 to absorb. They clear this as well, easily in their time. The pods are failing about 2 bundles of mail a day, on each of the walks with mail on that day. This was supposed to be were the 50/50 were going to help originally. But as I said above , RM decided to take a 50/50 round out and absorb it. So it's not a disaster and it may improve as people in the pods get used to what they are doing each day and will get slightly quicker. We have gone to the 2 in 5 shift pattern and that seems to be the main positive.

I guess with a lot more offices implementing DM26, we have to remember it's the lighter period of the year when we get their feedback.

Why wouldn't the 50/50 clear most days when they are taking 50% less 2c mail?Fed wrote: ↑Yesterday, 06:39We went live 3 weeks ago. Re: DM26 - Is it working?
They are taking the 50% 2nd class that they shouldn't be taking because they don't have enough work to take them to there time just doing 50/50. Plus they are taking a lapsed duty (around 40 minutes each) and still finishing about 20 minutes before their finish time.TopperGas wrote: ↑Yesterday, 10:03Why wouldn't the 50/50 clear most days when they are taking 50% less 2c mail?Fed wrote: ↑Yesterday, 06:39We went live 3 weeks ago.
