Haha we've got a couple of more vocal voice pieces who like to make out how good they are but the truth is they couldn't even begin to quiet quit as it would be impossible for their performance to be any shitter

Re: Silently quitting
Honestly, RM has made it so easy to quietly quit. Everyday we just take one side, sometimes less, tracked & 1st class off the other. It’s just a nice, steady stroll with absolutely no rushing. Dangle job & knock & we would’ve have cleared the whole walk easily today & had our feet up at home by 12.

Getting rid of job and knock. What was that all about?twoloops wrote: ↑Yesterday, 16:14Honestly, RM has made it so easy to quietly quit. Re: Silently quitting
If NWpostie started in the 80s and was working into the 90s, it's a fair bet they were FT and unlikely to be compelled to stay out to complete because then they wouldn't be back at the unit in time for IPS after the first delivery.
The point I understood, was that the duties were actually achievable so the office cleared everyday. Hence the gravity of even a single letter being missed in the frame. Up until about a decade ago there almost never reason to cut off. And by cut off I mean leaving a bag as it was originally defined, not the entire duty as is often the case now.
The machine stops.

I get what you mean but duties have become not achievable due to people rushing around to complete and a large chunk of the workforce coming in hours early each week to get finished as quickly as possible. The same people who then complain when they get more added on, yet they are still idiotic and continue to come in early without finishing early. Absolute madness.

Re: Silently quitting
Absolutely. That was a consequence of Job & Finish being introduced to get everyone on board with axing the second delivery. Along with pushing times back further and further, the company has been living well off that particular bait and switch.Pfrizzy10 wrote: ↑Yesterday, 19:02I get what you mean but duties have become not achievable due to people rushing around to complete and a large chunk of the workforce coming in hours early each week to get finished as quickly as possible. I used to have the wind at my back and achieve something like 200BSI in 2009. By the time of the last revision I gave up faced with the impossible. I had dejectedly made peace with the 2024 Network Revision until I saw what our projected finish times are for DM26. I do not give a flying f**k into a rolling donut if this job implodes.
Why not go out like a pet being put down? Give us the working equivalent of an opioid overdose: bring back 2½ hour spans, let the Tracked pile up undelivered, and go bust in two weeks. It'll be the best two weeks we'll ever have.
The machine stops.

I personally couldn’t give a bollocks how much mail isn’t delivered. I start on my time, do what I’m supposed to do (completing tracked, specials etc) and then finish on time. We’ve been finishing 4.30 for years already, so I’m well used to later finishes myself. In my opinion, DM26 makes absolutely no difference to me as long as there are finish times. They can add as much as they like onto duties. I’ll be doing no more than I already do

Do you want to see people get into trouble for unofficial industrial action?A2B wrote: ↑Yesterday, 14:11SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑Yesterday, 13:08Members would need to be balloted if most were to do it, otherwise RM could construe it to be unofficial industrial action.

Re: Silently quitting
Oh, was there no Job & Finish before the second delivery was axed, then? I joined long after the second delivery stopped, but I always had the impression that job and finish went way back in time. So have we come full circle and posties had to stay till their finish time when there were two deliveries a day, like we are supposed to with SISO now?

book what you wanted take
as much break as you wanted on or off route
You just wouldn’t dare bring anything back
Have to remember it wasn’t privatised back then
it had no bosses to answer too or budgets to keep
New van every 2 years and land rovers on deep rural
Delivering milk mewspares extras every day
Nobody left the job it was dead man’s boot to get it
It’s not even worth thinking about today it’s a world that may as never have existed
Just got to get by the best you can which for me is picking the best duty I can and winding the clock down

Re: Silently quitting
The following may not all be accurate in all places at all times. This is the distilled essence...
Of the stories I have read and heard (the real Work Time Listening and Learning), because you cleared the pillarboxes on the way back you had to return to the unit to tip it all out to be sorted. You could certainly belt round a walk but you were not to stroll back into the office until the appropriate time. In that sense you were working all your hours, although there was no PDA to report you were reading the paper at the duck pond for three quarters of an hour.
At this point PT were done, although there'd likely be plenty of OT available. FT went out again on the second delivery, though I understand that was Job & Finish - or just Finish due to shenanigans with people reintroducing mail into the following day's first delivery.
The machine stops.
