The pods,,,,,
So how does this work ? Is there a first pod picked , then the senior guy picks ( prob the job hes on now) then the unfortunate next senior guys job hes been on in years also? So hes scored twice, got his own job again and then gets another bite at cherry again? This is going to cause animosity and tons of conflict . Is there a fairer way of doing this , you get your pic , then the extra duty you have to try and do gets picked later ? Is the resign done now or later but leave the duty holders on there own job till start of next year to bed them in? Meaning 1 in the 4 will be kicked out of pod ? Where do they go? Its all a mind f and coming our way

The pod set up means a pairing will be converted into a singleton. Yes, one duty does disappear so lets call it what it is - lapsed. There should be no issues because the duties go out on seniority. However until you know which duties are full time and part time you can't repick the duties.Chelseablue wrote: ↑20 Jul 2026, 16:53So how does this work ? The CWU agreed the timing of the repick is for the members to decide. Most offices have opted to let the changes bed in before the repick. That's beneficial to the members because they can see the set up before they sign for a duty. It also makes sense to let everyone try the different duties - pod pairing, pod singleton and firms/rural/hct singleton.

Let.the duties bed I,then go for a full repick on seniority it's only fair and then state what constitutes DDA!!

Re: The pods,,,,,
In our office though, the rurals are getting a far better deal, they are coming in early on prep doing more indoor work than only having to take half of the mail on there routes while the rest of the town jobs are going into these pods, lot's of newer staff cover some nice easy rural rounds now so I wouldn't like the fact that they start and finish much earlier and have far less volume, I think we need a temporary repick as they have made the jobs so unfair in our office.

Re: The pods,,,,,
If offices don't get a re-pick at the time of rolling out DM26 they are supposed to get one a few months later.
Like that is going to happen right before Christmas.

Doing a repick after is a massive risk in my opinion. Managers will keep favourites and quicks on the rounds they want and then play the old no point doing a repick now as there will be a revison next year so lots will be displaced with no hope of getting a job.

Of course. There will be stiff opposition to a repick in a lot of offices for the reasons you give.jessicarabbit wrote: ↑20 Jul 2026, 19:47Doing a repick after is a massive risk in my opinion. A lot of senior posties in our office are talking about not picking a walk, no responsibilities, no commitment & if they don’t like it retire.

On paper, a reserve role could be the way to go, no responsibility.scoobydo79 wrote: ↑Yesterday, 15:46Surely by not picking a walk you are making yourself a reserve then? Doubt they will like that much

Exactly what I'm thinking of doing
Do what a lot of them do now, leave D2Ds under frames, take it 2 loops out, bring it back, not my problem the next day

Re: The pods,,,,,
DM26 hasn't started at our office and is still in the planning stages and there is no official word on which four duties will be in each pod. But there's a rumour that two of the existing van share jobs will be paired with another two van share jobs about two miles apart! It's not a rural area and will involve travel across other pods' areas! Utter madness, especially when there are 1pm Specials in both areas! Are any other offices who are up and running working illogical geographical spreads like this (barring isolated rural areas)?
