No they won't. That is not part of the DM26 plan. If the 3 agree to do that, then it is fine presuming all 3 drive. However, if I sign for a "standalone" duty, I am not intending to get back to van sharing at any point. Sadly, I think I will just miss out and have to settle for the inefficiency of sharing a van.

Re: Have I got this right?
August 12th going live! We are woefully unprepared. Frames have been moved into pods, doing a re-pick before a full re-pick on Sept 21. We have nowhere near enough staff, and anyone new will walk as soon as they see this shambles. August re-pick is on hold because those who have been given certain walks because of medical issues are upset that they might be moved onto a walk they can`t do. Square peg, round hole. Management desperate to force it all through whatever the cost.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑16 Jul 2026, 20:30With so many DOs going over early, I think it's only a matter of time before RM bring the deadline for all DOs forward by a long way, probably the end of August at the latest.A2B wrote: ↑16 Jul 2026, 20:23Doesn't the office have to be fully staffed before you start DM26?

Re: Have I got this right?
If people are being moved off a ring fenced duty then they are entitled to be more than upset, it’s not allowed. They can be moved onto a similar duty, ie no large hills or stairs etc.
However, if someone has an agreement that they do a certain duty unofficially then they can’t really complain.

Ring fenced duties should be reevaluated every 12 months to check that it’s doesn’t have a negative effect on the operation….do your homeworkPerseus wrote: ↑16 Jul 2026, 22:28If people are being moved off a ring fenced duty then they are entitled to be more than upset, it’s not allowed. I don’t follow. Where did I say that they shouldn’t be evaluated? It seems that the squabble is between those being moved around WITHIN the ring-fenced duties. The re-pick is on hold, waiting for when a decision is made at executive level. I can`t believe that no-one saw this coming a mile off ages ago.Perseus wrote: ↑16 Jul 2026, 22:28If people are being moved off a ring fenced duty then they are entitled to be more than upset, it’s not allowed. That doesn't sound great, but it certainly sounds like something for HR to work out, especially when Protected Characteristics are in play. It's why people need to make sure things like this are all done properly, not just by a nod.WalkerX wrote: ↑17 Jul 2026, 18:01It seems that the squabble is between those being moved around WITHIN the ring-fenced duties. You said they would be upset, but why would they be unless they assume they would be on a gravy train for lifePerseus wrote: ↑17 Jul 2026, 17:54I don’t follow. Re: Have I got this right?
The very fact that a re-pick has been put on hold (the post I was originally replying to) appears to show that these duties ARE being protected, which is a good thing don't you agree? You are basically saying why would someone be upset if they lost their job, as that is what would happen if no role could be found for them with adjustments. Using a term the term 'gravy train' though - do you think have it easy or something with their conditions which require adjustments?heraldmoth wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026, 15:25You said they would be upset, but why would they be unless they assume they would be on a gravy train for lifePerseus wrote: ↑17 Jul 2026, 17:54I don’t follow. Re: Have I got this right?
No I don’t agree, the system is flawed and allows anyone to claim some form of mental health issue and stay on a delivery of their choice and it’s always an easy duty, if someone had a genuine disability that prevents them doing certain things then fair enough but I’m sorry for me the mental health card being pulled is actually now making the job unsafe for the rest of us and it should lead to removal from the workplace under the health and safety act…my office currently this calendar year 40-50% of people have been off with mental health behaviours, should adjustments be made for all these making the job harder everyone else based on expected work items to hours?Perseus wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026, 16:28The very fact that a re-pick has been put on hold (the post I was originally replying to) appears to show that these duties ARE being protected, which is a good thing don't you agree? Re: Have I got this right?
My best advice to you would be not let it annoy you, as various mental health conditions are protected characteristics under the Equality Act. You (rightly) won't be privy to any of the information and reasoning as to why some duties are ring fenced, so you can't possibly say they aren't genuine.

Re: Have I got this right?
We went live a few weeks ago. There was 8 of us that had been previously ring fenced on duties for medical reasons. The COM re-referred us all to Occ Health again for review. 7 were refused as OH have no say on whether duties can be ring fenced for a repick. I had an interview with OH as currently off sick, they wanted to check I was being dealt with fairly at present. They categorically stated, they are unable to advise on ring fencing duties as this is contractual / business decision and not an OH one.
