Cardiff City fans still waiting for FA Cup final tickets to arrive are to stage a protest at a Royal Mail depot.

About 40 tickets posted to supporters in Maesteg, Bridgend county, for the Wembley game against Portsmouth on 17 May have failed to turn up.

Fans will protest at Cardiff's main sorting depot near the club's Ninian Park ground before Sunday's final Championship game of the season.

The Royal Mail is investigating the complaint and working with the club.

Fan Steve Maddern said he had bought £95 tickets for himself, his 23-year old son Andrew, and two friends.

He thought they would be with him by last week at the latest. Instead, he is now in talks with the club to try to secure replacements.

"It came a complete shock," said Steve, a member of City fans' Maesteg supporters' club.

"I'm getting phone calls all the time from other people in Maesteg.

He believes it is only supporters in the Maesteg area that have been affected by the missing tickets.

He said most of them would be taking part in the demonstration at the Penarth Road depot, the area's main sorting office.

"We will be there long enough to make our presence felt," he added.

The fans will gather at the sorting office before City finish their Championship season against Barnsley - who, coincidentally, they beat in the FA Cup semi-final to secure their place in the final.

The Royal Mail's area manager for south Wales, Paul Kelly, said the complaints were being treated with the utmost urgency.

"We have launched a full investigation, involving our own internal security team, to establish exactly how these tickets went missing," said Mr Kelly.

"We will also involve the police if appropriate.

"We are also working closely with Cardiff City Football Club to ensure that these fans, who are also our customers, get to the game on Saturday, May 17."

I can't really see there being a great demand for Cardiff tickets, so it's unlikely that someone pinched 40 of them but I can see them stuck in a bag in some MC and will probably be found at Christmas time

Off topic but how come the Welsh FA recinded a red card for a Cardiff's Darren Purse that now allows him to play in the FA Cup final...if they want to play in the english league then surely they should be under the englsh fa's rules.

And better than that, a Cardiff City season ticket holder sat on the FAW panel judging Purse's red-card being over-turned. How's that fair?
