Is that definitely true? Because they are hiring now!norris9 wrote: ↑07 Jul 2026, 22:03I have the same question.
Well, I already know that posties taking Tracked + 1st Class Mail will fail most days.... so how that 'improves quality of service' - I don't know.
As for PT to FT.... just ask your rep to see if you can move up in hours now....if your office is recruiting, they have to put you up in hours if you want an increase.

They should be asking part timers if they want to increase their hours before hiring externally. Tell your managers and rep you want an increase ASAP and make it clear that they need to uplift your hours before employing anyone new otherwise the manager can get into serious shiz if they do.Newpoet wrote: ↑08 Jul 2026, 12:52Is that definitely true? It depends what hours they are advertising. If you are on 30 hours and they are advertising for 30 hour workers, then I believe they don't have to offer you any extra hours, but if you work 30 hours and see an advert for a 35 hour vacancy at your office, then that's wrong. They have to offer current staff, in seniority order, the extra 5 hours.Newpoet wrote: ↑Yesterday, 14:10Oh nice! Brilliant. Tried this, the union though said they have to hire so we can start dm26. If it's the latter, then get your area rep involved if your local rep is saying no.
Either way, it's good to let management and your local rep you want an uplift.

Did you take part in the scoping exercise?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

It was a no for me, they didn't even bother replying to my request.
