Heavy and light days joke
We started doing the heavy and light bs today, was told I was on a light day so hardly any mail (that was a lie) never mentions the massive pile of tracked for my duty apparently that's not included in the light and heavy definition, then I was told because it was a light day I had to do an extra 150 doors (including tracked) from another duty to make sure I don't finish early! I just nodded and yeah ok I'll do what I can, ended up bringing half that 150 back lol. Seriously, this heavy and light is a joke, there are no light days they just find more work for you on other frames, so they want you to do a massive duty(as in walking much further) on the 'light' days. Can't wait for the heavy day, it'll probably be easier than the 'light' one as they won't throw in another 150 doors to try and complete. No extra hours by the way to complete these 'heavy' days.
This is what happens when the sorry excuse for a union get together with Royal mail to plan another way to shaft the posties. I honestly do not know why anyone is still in the CWU, absolute bunch of ******

Re: Heavy and light days joke
This isnt how heavy and light works
Its not heavy and light days
Its one of your walks on a van sharing is heavy and the other light swapping over each day
or 50% of your frame heavy and the other light if singleton
Its not you have a light day Monday heavy tuesday light wednesday etc etc

If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

As said the description is not how DM26 works. The workload is balanced across all duties and the workload includes everything to be done on the day.

Re: Heavy and light days joke
Yeah, management have been looking at all sorts of creative ways to make DM26 work in our office. Some posties have been rotated on different rounds whilst others seem to be clearing their own duty every single day. Even when those duty holders have their days off - all the work on their frame has gone instead of putting those staff on other rounds that have had about a week's worth of mail left in it....
It's not difficult to see the issues that DM26 is creating
And the logic is that management are only concerned with the overall QoS in their section/office rather than a few duties that are consistently struggling due to them being consistently oversized or not resourced properly.

Re: Heavy and light days joke
No date for when we go 'live', but about 80% of our office fails every day. Some duties with no mail going out for over a week, some shared vans with 1 person on their own. Yet we have 20% of the office clearing every single day, being grossly over resourced and finishing over an hour early each day. i'm sure DM26 will be a huge success given those constants.

Re: Heavy and light days joke
Perhaps not how it's supposed to work on paper trams, but it's how it is being implemented in our office. The end result for those posties on struggling duties is exactly the same. We have overtime bans so staff can't complete, we have new staff thrown in at the deep end and told to prioritise Tracked and 1c on duties that have several days worth of mail, we have weeks worth of D2Ds left untouched because there isn't the time to put them in and yet we still have some staff on cushy rounds completing their own rounds and still clock out early.
The rep is more bothered about keeping onside with management than going out on delivery. The management are more bothered about the office budget and making sure the Tracked are being delivered so they can hit their targets which is why we have had new duties put in and no one staffing them. Whole office is a mess.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

I'm certain that all these issues will be sorted after the post implementation review....

Sure it is! Remember, no more top-down to-the-letter changes. Every office is being granted the leeway to figure out how best to make DM26 fit their unit
The machine stops.

Re: Heavy and light days joke
These comments about management are so true. The intelligence and management ability really isn't there.reddevils wrote: ↑Yesterday, 22:28Funny how each office is being granted lee way for these changes.
Royal Mail want to make savings. To make these savings there has to be less staff.
Less staff = More Workload.
To make people do more workload the system has to be managed top-down. Nobody is going
to volunteer for more workload and equally leeway means everybody will try and reduce
workload to deflect it onto somebody else.
Having said that Royal Mail management are notoriously piss poor at managing anything.
Most managers barely have high school qualifications, don't know how to spell and struggle
remembering who is on annual leave and who's day off it is.
I think the royal mail executives are highly overestimating what their DO managers are capable off.
Distributing workload and making decisions does not tend to be their strong suit.
Just wanted to add a response to OP. This is the first day of Doom26. Next Monday there will be 3 days mail. And 3 days on Tuesday. Rest of the week 2 days. So if you think today was s**t, it's great big dollops from now until Doom27 or something.

and still clock out early.
You can't clock out early anymore with SISO. otherwise you will be upstairs in the office the next day.
