Can anyone tell me if new starters are paid mileage allowance in your area?
Thanks in anticipation

Re: New starters mileage
You ask for a van, or for them to drop you off there and pick you up to get you back to your DO for finishing time
Your insurance won't cover you, unless you have business insurance. And then, why the hell should you use your own personal vehicle

Re: New starters mileage
My contract says I can be sent to another office. Wouldn't I then be insured if I drove to that office? And I often do go to other offices and have been told I can claim milage but never have bothered as it's pennies per mile.TooManyLoops wrote: ↑Today, 18:07You ask for a van, or for them to drop you off there and pick you up to get you back to your DO for finishing time

Re: New starters mileage
SDP+C Car insurance usually covers you to commute to your usual place of work. Not to wherever the heck the company wants to send you on a day by day basis. That'd fall under using the vehicle for business use.moonjaguar wrote: ↑Today, 18:52My contract says I can be sent to another office. Wouldn't I then be insured if I drove to that office? Best bet is to tell the manager that you'll need a van and use the RM fuel and insurance.

Re: New starters mileage
I thought I'd read that RM were using some new starts as a pool of labour and just sent wherever needed?

Yeah it's 55p a mile you can claim if self employed. Not sure how it'll work for PAYE.
I cycle to work so they never ask as they know they'll have to give me a vsn which then means they'll be 1 short for a dpr driver
