Royal Mail customers in parts of Flintshire are facing disruption to their post after the company confirmed deliveries from one of its offices are being affected by local operational issues.
The firm’s daily service update for Tuesday, June 9, lists Flint Delivery Office, which covers the CH6 and CH8 postcode areas, among locations where 'delivery services may be disrupted' and where normal rounds are currently not possible.
Royal Mail says it aims to deliver to every address it has mail for six days a week but admits this may temporarily not be possible in a small number of local offices because of 'high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors'.
In affected areas, including Flint, Royal Mail says it will rotate deliveries between different addresses 'to minimise the delay to individual customers.'
The company adds that it is providing targeted support to the most impacted offices "to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive".
Nationally, Royal Mail says its air and road networks have operated to schedule over the last 24‑hours, with letters and parcels continuing to move between distribution hubs, mail processing centres, and delivery offices around the UK.
However, the company has reported that not all mail was processed and dispatched on time at South Midlands Mail Centre.
Customers in CH6 and CH8 who receive a red 'Something for you' card because a delivery was attempted while they were out are being advised to use the Services Near You tool on the Royal Mail website to find their nearest Customer Service Point or delivery office and to check up‑to‑date opening hours before travelling to collect items.
People worried about missing or severely delayed post are also being advised that they may, in some circumstances, be able to claim compensation if an item sent using a Royal Mail service has been lost, damaged, or seriously delayed.
Citizens Advice says either the sender or the intended recipient can usually make a claim, but they will need proof of posting and details of how and when the item was sent.
