Dm26 won’t happen?

Post by FirstPost »

Is there any situation now that this DM26 method collapses? Legal route? Reverting back to current method due to it not working?

Yes, it collapses alright. It's just a pity that it's also going to collapse a lot of jobs within the next couple of years.

RM need to get rid of the letter business in order to survive. DM26 will see to it and then the company will primarily go to a self employed owner driver model for the parcels which is where the money is. What actually happens to letters if not handled by RM is anyone's guess. Maybe that branch has to temporarily become under government control, although the eventual conclusion is likely to be a termination of letter delivery because it's probably far too costly to maintain in the modern climate unfortunately.

The ODM was supposed to be a slam-dunk and the trials failed on contact with larger offices. It is entirely possible DM26 follows the same trajectory. In that case offices that never began the trials would continue operating as normal.

Regarding the fate of the ODM, if it worked so well in small offices why hasn't anyone figured out the problem has been years of continually reducing the number of DOs? Maybe if every office fit inside our defunct canteen it wouldn't have fallen flat on its face.
The machine stops.

Owner driver model will never going to work in rural settings you just can’t make the finances work

We have different evri drivers all the time none can make it work financially they cover the work area of 5 of our rural deliveries

Amazon is delivered by RM

What if government say no you’re not losing uso you agreed to take I on

These changes might happen but next few years unlikely it’s taken an age to get this reform done

Unless the government could find another firm to take on the USO, I can't see RM ever being allowed to axe the USO.

Thing is, RM won't be under any obligation to deliver parcels to rural locations. They're a private company. Amazon can't/won't do it themselves, and as said, Evri can't make it work. The solution would be to drop the parcels off in bulk at a nearest service point and customers would have to collect themselves from there.

I'm fairly sure there are legal loopholes that allow RM to get out of the USO. It probably entails going "bust" then setting up a new company under a different name which is when the all-new owner driver method comes into action.

If that were to happen then there'd be no allowances or supplements for anyone and we'd all be on the minimum wage

Fortunately you seem the only poster who believes all this nonsense. RM's biggest task at the moment is getting DM26 to work and then getting the Government off it's back, not scrapping the USO.

So can anyone tell me, what if DM26 is an absolute flop? What happens then?

Apparently, there's not enough staffing levels, too many have left, recruits not staying, high levels of sick..

DM26 is not viable or doable.. no delivery staff for it to function...

Royal Mail bring in ODM by executive action with commit to deliver as an added extra.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
