The agreement says this but my office has 10 vacancies in an office of what is meant to be 100, 3 more retiring before the end of the year

If this is voted/pushed in will this still affect offices with recruitment issues?

Your office will be replicated all across the UK, can anybody honestly see RM waiting for all the vacancies to be filled before proceeding if we voted Yes to DM26? It's just more nonsense from the CWU.

I wondered does that mean fully resourced now or for the numbers required post implementation as obviously that's going to be up to 25% less in an office predominantly on van share, and not so much in an office with a load of singletons unless they bolt some together in one van

That does seem quite unfair on other offices, if places where they work 1 to a van come off lightly in all this. There are offices that SHOULD have gone to van share but resisted it, citing 'it didn't work' (does it really 'work' anywhere?). One of the pilot offices I'm sure, 20 odd duties with a van each delivering to a large town with maybe the need for 1 or 2 singles to do the rurals/offices etc.

Told today that implementation cannot be started unless FULLY staffed - meaning there has to be no vacancies

What happens if an office is a constant revolving door of people leaving and joining.

Surely if an office just needs 1 or 2 more staff it can go ahead.

From what I've heard, vacancies have stopped being advertised. At least, in the immediate operational area. I can assue you we are not fully staffed. I infer the same is true of at least one neighbouring office since it made the national news for their 1C performance.

why would vacancies be stopped , we need more posties so not sure if this things going go ahead this year if still no staff

If an office or sector/area has enough staff across the board they won't employ more staff, for now at least. Remember, they are looking to re-locate staff from one office to another if there is a surplus in any unit.

Presently. At a minimum there's no day off cover (one sixth) and at worst a quarter of duties can be unmanned.

I have no idea what form DM26 will take when it finally impacts so I can't speak to how well staffed we would be. I really don't think we can count on retaining people after implementation. It may well be that all the new starts that have been planted on a duty for months right out of the gate and then find themselves without one when the hammer comes down may say sod this. There goes that surplus of staff.

I think the same might be true of those close to ( or past) retirement age.
Once they realise that they are expected to do more work and longer delivery spans they might decide it is time to go.

We’ve had 8 agency staff to bring us up to be fully staffed. Today they were all told they are not needed tomorrow and not to come back next week. The 8 new duties we’ve been fazing in have now been put on hold. Something is afoot.

Seems the most obvious way that offices will have enough staff on paper then be able to cut some jobs.
