The result and Voting members - Legacy to 'New'
From the LTB pushed out by the Union re the result, if I've worked it out correctly there are:
89,939 'Legacy' employees who are CWU members
15750 'New' employees who are CWU members
Just for interest.....
Result LTB, it's a 'Yes' on both counts:

Turnout for this ballot was 32.3%!
That's a poor show.

Re: The result and Voting members - Legacy to 'New'
It was almost guaranteed it will be a yes vote with embarassing turnout. People gave up on the union since the last botched IA. Those who at least bothered to cast their vote may not work in deliveries, but they can see the 3% pay rise carrot dangling very well. Job is gone to the wall already so lets at least pocket little change if they still offer anything. This is how it is likely decied.

Around 10% of the workforce have chosen what the other 90% will be doing. That's not any democracy, that's CWU democracy.

Re: The result and Voting members - Legacy to 'New'
Low turnout is likely because a lot of legacy staff are on the verge of leaving and a hell of a lot of 'new' contract staff are only here short term....
as well as that, most posties probably don't even know what's going on as the union never properly explained the differences clearly and simply between the 2 methods trialled.
I have no idea if this heavy and light model is any good as I have not trialled it, so it was hard to make a vote on it not really knowing how well it is or isn't going to work.

I read somewhere that the weekly paid will soon be getting paid monthly and that it will "just happen overnight"

That turnout is embarrassing for such a big change. Shows how much most the staff have pretty much given up on the job and the union. The workforce is full of people just marking time until retirement or those just here until they find something else.
Let the chaos of DM26 begin.

Re: The result and Voting members - Legacy to 'New'
We've had no union input at a local level but I still found enough information online, for instance the 26 page appendix document and spending 20 minutes reading that was enough for me to see that it won't work in our unit. We have the 'advantage' of having being poorly staffed for ages and with many of the remaining staff having quietly quit a long while ago, so we've been unofficially doing versions of ODM/DM26. The only glimmer of hope, the extra Saturdays off looks like a pipe dream so for that reason it was an easy no. Our manager has zero idea how the Saturdays will work.norris9 wrote: ↑Today, 18:42Low turnout is likely because a lot of legacy staff are on the verge of leaving and a hell of a lot of 'new' contract staff are only here short term....

Quite a few staff in ours wanted a no vote but hadn't voted yet as of a few days ago, a mix of apathy and this strange condition where they are happy for others to decide for them - yet they spend most of their mornings complaining about how sh!t the job is.

Probably a lot of delivery staff know that either way they are being sold down the river.toonshola wrote: ↑Today, 19:21That turnout is embarrassing for such a big change. Yes that's what were told but either the latest email from CWU is either extremely badly worded or it was tied to a yes vote
As this agreement has now been confirmed, the 3% pay rise for old contracts will be paid on the 5th of June for weekly paid workers and by 30th of June for monthly paid

But the latest CWU update now infers it was? If it wasn't then why wait until the week after the vote to pay it??Sean06 wrote: ↑Today, 20:04The payrise was nothing to do with the ballotblacov wrote: ↑Today, 18:11It was almost guaranteed it will be a yes vote with embarassing turnout.
