Walk times

Post by cj_1985 »

Just wondering...

given that you/we are contracted for a set number of hours in a week and in carrying out your duties your walks are taking you over your hours each week..

how do you deal with that?

i mean i know it would depend if its due to heavy mail days or if its down to you not doing your work quick enough
but still has me wondering...

Don't tire yourself out.

Book down docket and they'll soon check your walk.

Your name may not be on the sheet but the duty you are perfoming should.

just put your name against the duty, but most important make sure you put YOUR
pay number in the space provided and how long you have gone over your time.

Good luck.

dont worry that your going to slow,it takes us all different times to get in the grove.it took me 2 months before i finished on time.my first week i didnt finish till 4pm.now i dont ever finish after 1pm.and i dont rush it just sorta clicks.i cycle to every door i can i walk over their gardens(if ever anyone asks me not to i wouldn't)instead of up and down each path.nobody seems too mind for the postman.

though one woman did come out to my friend and said"do you mind i used to be a civil servant and i dont want you walking across my grass"........well there's always one

Any day that you think you may work past your time approach your manager tell him you think that you will be unable to complete and ask him what he wants you to do(always put the ball in his court) if he is a fair manager he will either tell you to leave mailsort and or undated 2nd class or he will offer o/t,(remember you must be genuine if you are not it could come back and hurt you) if you do not want o/t and by leaving mailsort and 2nd class you will still not complete then again the ball is in his court, he can either tell you to cut off at your correct time and bring the excess work back or he can take some work of you and pay someone else o/t to cover it, if the manger is no good and starts to bully you and you think he is making an unreasonable request ask him to put it in writing, then carry it out(unless it is unsafe) if possible have a witness present, then take a grievance out against him, most managers are just chancers and failed postmen so won't go that far, the main thing is to stand up for yourself, I know it is hard in the current climate but if you don't stand up for your self your terms and condition's will continue to worsen.

Hang on you dont rush trampling all over someones garden instead of using the path
cycling to every door,

WELL THERE'S ALWAYS ONE
