Any hope left?
Lapsing in 2009
Got rid of push bikes 2013
The revision was terrible in 2023 still lots of cut offs and good posties have left in thousands.
If DM26 comes in how long will it last for profit?.

Re: Any hope left?
Every solution over the years has been sold as the thing that secures the future. I remember when shared vans came in and it cost the business millions because we were using our own cars at the time. Honestly, I think the big savings have already been made in previous years with lapsing/bigger rounds and this model is going to bring a new level of chaos. I'm concerned that the business appears to be falling over itself to retain the new entrants and I understand why because recruitment and turnover clearly look like a problem. But if we end up with a growing 2-tier workforce where different rules and expectations quietly emerge, is the business really solving the problem or just masking it?
RM can redesign the duties and add as much flexibility as they want, but if staff are burning out, leaving or struggling to cope with the workloads then eventually the pressure just shows up somewhere else - with sickness (and much of it not being recorded like I mentioned on the other thread), turnover, overtime and mail rolling over. The question isn't will these USO reforms will work but how long before the next fix is needed? Why does the future of RM have to become more like the gig economy? Why is the answer to every problem more workloads, more flexibility and cheaper labour? I believe that RM should fix the productivity problems before cutting the terms, they should charge a premium for a premium service and push for a genuine level playing field.

On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Is it true they have started taking on non drivers in some offices because it’s that bad?

I don’t understand where the savings will be if they are going to fully resourced before implementation (hire more staff) but no redundancies.

There's no need for redundancies with the amount of people leaving,, natural wastage will take care of any over staffing issues further down the line.

Someone mentioned that they're taking on people who currently only possess a provisional licence. I guess you have to pinky swear you'll obtain a full one within a certain timeframe.
The machine stops.

It would need to or we are all cooked.
They will probably eventually phase out all overtime for full-time colleagues, which will save money.
If they had a brain, they would also do away with workplace coaches. Biggest waste of money I’ve ever seen.

It was all lost when we went to van shares, and the constant pile on of extra things to do since. Boxes, packets, collections and now collection of Parcel Force s**t

Blame your Union. They complain about pressure and workload of posties, then also say they want to give posties more responsibilities and expand the role.TooManyLoops wrote: ↑Yesterday, 16:56It was all lost when we went to van shares, and the constant pile on of extra things to do since. Personally enjoy the job more now than years ago. I don’t think there’s as much pressure on us now than there was back then.

After this round of savings get ready for letters going entirely, probably the end of the decade/ start of the next. Digital World now. You will be looking at 50% cuts at least. Have a nice day. Bang! Bang!

Just an observation, but I reckon a lot of staff would find a positive if the company went to the wall next week - At least the work place coach didn't get their £40 odd a week.

Re: Any hope left?
If every office has an average of 2 workplace coaches, they get around £40 a week and there's around 1200 offices. Getting rid of the role would save the company around 5 million a year!
Additionally getting rid of 2 COMs from each office would save about 100 million if those going get paid about 40k. No way we need so many managers, they do next to f**k all from what I see each day.

Why stop there? Delivery supplement costs the company £100,000,000 a year, legacy payments tens of millions more too.funkflex55 wrote: ↑Yesterday, 17:46If every office has an average of 2 workplace coaches, they get around £40 a week and there's around 1200 offices.
