changes in our office

Post by not me »

okay i know every office is different but bear with me
recently we have been told we need to have all walks covered by part timers up and tied down for them
part timers originally came to our office when we dissolved the floating dutes(office savings)
and the agreement was walks up and part timers do heir own redirections and packets + tie down
now we are being told nobody leaves till the whole office is ready

secondly we have been told we have to do our own puggy(as we call it)
this is marking and splitting the condemned packets, letters, flats etc for RTS,RLB etc
this was done by PHG's
however one has moved up to manager and isnt being replaced,so we are as such losing a duty and absorbing this into the walks indoor hours

the word flexibility is being banded around by managers as a buzzword

on saturday the guys were on IPS beyond 0710 (i was putting up a part time walk so never noticed the time)
which was the agreed time under the new later start times(6 weekdays and 5 saturdays)
seemigly flexibility was used again
for me i would have walked off ips had i been up.the hours are set and going beyond 0710 cuts into prep/delivery time which is tight on saturdays anyway

we have had loads of managers in just now.our office covers 2 postcodes and is split with managers for each side, however they have now split each half.
footwalks are getting bigger and bigger packets, before we leave we have ot get a manager to check our frame, bag checks as you sign in etc
any advice/comments on this?

Only advice I can give is to do it by book, and take ur break when you got to. Once every hour stop sorting for a few mins to reduce RSI and write down every thing the managers say to u, right in front of them (thats a ball ache but they lkeave you alone.) and also in WTL, asks how they are being flexi, ask what are they doing regarding flexi, for examplke if someone was off sick, would they sort and deliver a walk, just to save on OT. Would they work over their time one day because they finish earlier. For Flexi to work, both side must adapt to it not just us. They can not make us leagally work over our contracted hours or for free. Ask for your (is it 318) details of duties, ask for everything in writing with their signeture, as i am sick of them moving the oalpost

Your rep should be sitting down with your Dom and having negotiations about all these changes.Proposals should be exchanged, dissagrements should be drawn up and the I/R framework should come in to play. While this is all going on the status quo should remain and office workings should return to as they were.If you dont have a local rep get on to the area one and tell them what your Dom is doing. This is one of the reasons we went on strike last year to keep the local union within the workplace and negotiate any change.

well today we were told that 1 postie for each side of the office(2 postcodes) will be required to stay off the IPS to deal with the missorts
so this is another duty which just now is covered by the contingency drivers
so it continues!!
also found out our rep has stood down(he has been wanting to for ages)and has been replaced by one of the least liked guys in the office
ah well, makes it less of a problem to ask him wtf he's gonna do about this
i found out today when i saw his walk getting put up for him during ips???????

might be going postal tomorrow!!
