We have just been told by management that they won't pay our bus fares back to the d.o. after our delivery. Is this the same in other offices?

Nope we get ours back as long as we go back to the DO - its to do with work so you should be entitled. If you don't go back or you are delivering on or within 1 mile of the duty then they don't pay bus fare back at our place.

If you have to go back to the DO and they wont pay you bus fare ask them to get a driver to meet you and take you back.

Or cut off your delivery leaving you enough time to walk back to the DO

Our guys get an allowance for using their own cars cos they have to travel farther and no vans to bring them back, but me and my mate have to travel back to our office in my omv cos he can,t pouch off( no post office nearby 3 miles away) so we never get an early finnish and no chance i will work over my time and not get paid o/t for it

Our Dom has also said that he is gonna stop fares at our place

He could be in for a bit of a rough time,as the boys wont be happy

im sorry that just sound stupid..never in a million years would any company suggest or get away with that legally.
its for work benefit not yours.i think if true you may have one of the rare managers who's just trying it on to balance his outgoings.make himself look good.demand the money before you go out,if he says no then you dont use the bus.get in a van or on a bike.ultimatly make a complaint to his seniors and see what happens

some of us get paid for going out but never had pay for bus fares back or van to pick any one up .was told we have to make our own way back.
why do we all work for the same place yet every place has new rules ets its a joke i think.

i may be missing something here,why would they pay to get you there but not return..is it a distance thing?,are you close enough to walk but with the weight its not practical.how far is the walk back.cant you take bikes on buses?

Our fares were stopped about two years ago when the former DOM started costcutting. When only half the office brought the Reg Confirmation card back over the next couple of weeks and our figures went down they were re introduced. They now give us Oyster cards which they top up if we have to come back

I get my bus fares back don't know if i should but they say if you pass the D/O on your way home
then you can claim your fares back, and as i leave my car at the D/O i will always be passing it

untill they change the rules

Don't have this problem of getting back to DO as we pouch off at the nearest PO - although they are becoming harder to find these days and thus requires further to travel to - great idea cutting back the number of POs we have.. Now which idiot came up with that idea!!

As for getting back, if you need to get back to get rid of your 739s etc then yes I personally think they should pay it as it is part of the job, or just do as someone else has said and tell your DOM that you are cutting off at the right time so you can walk back to the office and arrive back in time to do those little odds and ends so you are finished bang on time.
