29/04/26 Mount Pleasant Bulletin

Post by jimallen »

Hi, here's the Mount Pleasant bulletin of 29 April. We welcome your comments!

THIS AGREEMENT IS YET ANOTHER ATTACK ON OUR CONDITIONS - LET'S PREPARE TO STRIKE!
On May 11, ballot papers will be sent out. CWU leaders want us to vote "yes" to their "agreement" with
RM bosses over USO delivery cuts and second Tier Ts&Cs for new starters. But we will vote no.
What's NOT even being put to the vote is the 3% pay offer - amounting to less than £20/week! CWU
leaders claim the 3% was already "agreed" as part of the 3-year deal signed with RM last year. Yet
today's official CPI rate is 3.3%! So even on that underestimated measure, we're offered a pay cut!
We need at least an extra £200/week on our pay, across the board!
As for what we're "allowed" to vote on: RM has already implemented delivery/processing job cuts.
We're told there are no "compulsory redundancies". But when workmates retire or leave on VR
without replacement - what is that called?
Already 3 of us do the job of 4. So now they claim that cutting the USO, "frees up capacity" - yes, so
that they can pile more tracked, parcels, etc., onto all of us! This agreement also leaves each Mail
Centre/local office boss to sort out how, exactly, to squeeze more work out of fewer of us!
What's more, new starters' pay and Ts&Cs are not being equalised as promised: 4.75% this year
won't bring them up to OPG rates any time soon. Anyway, we stand for equal pay and Ts&Cs for equal
work!
There's only one answer to RM today: to refuse this agreement and prepare for a national all-out
strike.

***

WE CAN'T AFFORD THEIR NON-SENSE!
RM-PFS pay issues on Nights haven't been
resolved! We were given a sheet of paper with a
day-by-day breakdown of payments showing our
worked hours in Feb/March 2025... And we're only
being paid Feb/March/April 2026?! How does any
of this make sense?! Or are managers trying to tell
us it's "normal" for us to be paid short?! And what
about our Night shift allowance and overtime?

MUST OUR FEET DO THE TALKING?
In fact, we've had enough of these useless
meetings with RM-PFS managers. We cleaners are
already the lowest paid workers! We cannot afford
to lose hundreds of pounds while they lead us up
the garden path. We need the money which is due
to us paid without further delay!

SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL!
Processing managers have posted an advert for 15
slots of S/A at night on Large T48s "or as
directed"... But if management places us in one of
these S/A duties, they'll be leaving duties
uncovered somewhere else! And so their merry-go-
round keeps turning... until it grinds to a halt?!

SENSELESS RUN
On the Distribution shift starting around midnight
our last run is hard to justify: we leave with a half-empty
7.5T, just to get stuck in traffic when coming
back - totally empty!
As far as we're concerned, it would make sense
to cut this final run - provided, of course, managers
didn't decide to cut the number of drivers as well.
Because, yes, they're stupid enough to try...

BIN TRUCKS NEEDED?
Distribution managers are talking about
introducing a clock in/out system for us drivers,
when they already follow our every move with
their telemetry system! So no, we're not having it
- in fact, this telemetry system itself needs to go
into the bin.

DANGEROUS STINGINESS
Processing managers refuse to pay for a First Aider
to be trained for the Night Shift. When it's on
Nights that most accidents occur and where First
Aid cover is needed the most! It's vital that we
have someone on duty who is trained in
resuscitation and the use of the defibrillator!

CAN'T WORK WITHOUT THE BOOK-ROOM
The Book-room is being left un-"manned"
whenever someone is off-sick or on leave. For
weeks now on Lates, it's been under-staffed. So if
we can't get gloves, rubber bands, nor print york
boards, etc... should we just sit inside and wait?

Locally EVERYONE has to SISO no matter what section, managers also have to SISO as well.

It's not difficult to perform CPR. Defibrillators tell you what to do as well.

What you going to do if the FA person is the one requiring CPR? Just stand around with your hands in your pockets - 'I'm not trained'.
Get a grip. What would you do if it was a member of your family at home?

And the usual woeful knowledge/rewriting of history on show in the download cut-n-paste add on.

Managers at three office I work at do not have to clock in and out with sisco if they did they would be sacked by now.
