heard the rumour that the payment was based on o/t as well as contracted hours. but this is still not pro rata. pro rata is based on the number of hours that you are contracted to do not what you do. What was the qualifying period, what was the directivr from rm that informed people that the level of o/t would be a consideration. It definitely didnt appear on the national agreement. No other pro rata agreement has been based on o/t as well

Dear Colleague
Pay and Modernisation – Phase 2 Deployment/£400 Payment & Agreed Phase 3 Trials Process
Further to LTB 081/08 in respect of the above, we have now formally concluded a Review at National Level of the progress of Phase 2 Flexibility Plans and the payment dates for the £400 to be received by those Units that have jointly agreed plans in place.
Phase 2 Flexibility Plans
Although initially progress was slow and the original target dates for completion were not achieved out of the 1500 plus Units there are now less than 150 that have not concluded agreement. We are confident and jointly committed to ensure that the issues that have prevented these remaining offices finalising their plans will be resolved over the next 2 or 3 weeks.
Payment Dates
It has been confirmed that all of the Units that had signed plans in place by 27th March 2008, have started implementation and given a commitment that their plan would be fully implemented to time will receive the £400 payment on the 25th April 2008 (Part-timers receiving a payment pro-rata to their conditioned hours).

There was nothing in the agreement we voted on about the £400 being pro-rata for PT staff.
The agreement did state that the £175 lump sum paid in December would be pro rata, but there is nothing
about the April payment being pro-rata:
FINAL AGREEMENT
CWU AND ROYAL MAIL PAY
AND MODERNISATION AGREEMENT
APRIL 2007/2009
SECTION 1: EMPLOYEE PAY AND BENEFITS
1.1 A non-consolidated lump sum of £175 per FT employee pro-rata for PT employees (covering the
April to September) period. This is funded by the ESOS pot.
1.4 To support modernisation phase one and two:
* 50:50 productivity scheme as set out in the appendix of this offer.
* £400 of the potential Colleague Shares dividend payment will be made in April 2008 to offices which
have completed their deployment of the agreed unit plan in Phase 2 of the modernisation process.

The criteria for paymemt in terms of part timers and those employed for less than 12 months will be tucked away in the original literature RM sent out last year at the start of the scheme.
Colleagueshare was never agreed with the CWU!!!!!!
Billy and Dave simply persuaded RM to change the criteria to get a pay out in the first place.
RM original criteria was £400 linked to the office budget, but was changed to implementation of flexibility. All other aspects stayed the same

I have checked all my ColleagueShares documents
and unfortunately the shares were set up as pro rata.

Ask yourself this my friends if the criteria was still meeting the local budget target, would you have got a pay out?
Not only that some of us would get a payment due to our mangers competence and some of us could have got nothing due to our managers incompetence.
Billy and Dave have done a bloddy good job in scrapping that unfair criteria.
RM knew that by having it linked to local budget some offices wouldnt qualify and they could save money.
So the next time you want to slag off Billy and Dave just rememeber that things are not always what they seem! Do you homework first!

IMHO it perhaps should be based on the gross basic pay for each individual based on the previous years figures. That way it rewards those who work OT or SA, in a fair way, and does not penalise those on short hour contracts.Big Daz wrote:Thanks for clearing that up TBT![]()

The big question is should pro rata be scrapped for AG and those who joined after the April 2007 and everyone get the same?
However, I would much prefer them to be built into pay as a "Pensionable" bonus, or best case into basic pay as a reward for making the company an profit. £400 in one lump sum is no good it just a momentary bit of extra dosh but if they had put it into basic pay even at a rough average of £200 for everyone, it would mean £3.80 per week going forward. Making it better in the long run as just using this £3.80 and a 2.5% pay rise year on year would bring in:
Year 1 - £3.89
Year 2 - £3.98
Year 3 - £4.08
Year 4 - £4.18
and this is without including our present pay rates so.
