ODM will come in. They will offer a revised, slightly improved package of VR. Alot of old contract posties will be happy to take it. The CWU will announce it as a massive win. Within 3 years all contracts will be levelled down not up as the majority of the workforce will be on them.
They would look like absolute fools if they agreed ODM after all the placards ODM is dead and time after time saying they are not agreeing to it
I can’t see them agreeing to what was piloted - it surely have to be tweaked somehow to save face
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next
My money is on another 14 day extension, as I can't see RM wanting to announce anything before the PC announces the outcome of it's enquiries, just in case they then decide to call DK & co back to answer further questions, which they might do anyway.
So with the 30/03 just around the corner and the end of the DRP and the beginning of a new dawn of cooperation and working together to solve the chaos of mail deliveries and prioritization pyramids I'm starting my bingo card entries now. Feel free to add your own.
A small amount of progress has been made
Several sticking points remain
Nothing is agreed until everything is agreed
The right deal for postal workers
Further extension.....
Expanding the role of postal workers
New era of trust
ODM light

Actually we were promised on any USO deal that we would get a vote on it. This is the CWU though so fully expect this to be quietly forgotten about.

No. We were told each office would get a vote on the shift patterns and number of Saturdays off but not whether we agree to whatever version of ODM the CWU agree with RM to implement.

Nope we were 100% told by Walsh and other officers that we would be balloted on any USO agreement nationally. After we voted in the pay deal we were told don’t worry we will get a vote on the next bit (uso)
Sure someone can dig this up on the union Facebook page, I’ll have a look later this evening if I have time.
While we all known the union is still vague about this and has failed to provide any examples for almost four years now, I'm not sure the company cares to elaborate either. Anything else we could possibly do on the streets would simply detract from delivering the goddamn Tracked, which already detract from delivering the letters and that's how they like it.
Additional revenue streams like making tea for the elderly, checking gas and electricity meters, providing a government-subsidised service to deliver pieces of paper (what a concept)... there is no time!
Q. Expanding the role of postal workers? A. Unachievable workloads.

There is no time ... unless ... that hypothetical service turned out to be more profitable than a tracked .... then suddenly, the fabric of time would warp to let 60,000 of us slip through to the other side.

in the 8 years i've been doing this job, one of the constants on this forum has been the hyped hope of VR being offered to significant nos. of us. It never happens at any significant scale because in those 8 years we have ALWAYS been short of staff.
