walk - seniority

Post by hearts2026 »

Someone in my office has left just wondering where I stand if anything, back in the day it would be the next senior guy that would step in or go up on a board, none of that happens now walks going up in boards in my place, anyway it turns out yes they have given it to a new start the now, im ahead on seniority should I not get it, or is this the way things are now, whats it like in other offices, is anyone else finding that either new starts or favourites getting people who have left walks? what ever happened to seniority, union is useless before u mention them

If a duty is vacant it can be covered by a reserve for up to 6 months unless there is a percentage of vacant duties which would require an office resign.

Our office, every six months all the vacant duties go up an the notice board and anyone can sign for them and the it's decided on seniority, once you've signed for a walk your on it for at least a year, so six months on when the next round of vacant duties come round you can't sign for one

We have a resign once a year. Normally April time.
Rounds that become vacant after that are just filled by whoever they want until the following April

If your rep is ‘useless’ go above them to the Area Rep and state that seniority is being ignored and it needs to be re-established via a re-pick

Yes, the most senior reserve not on a duty gets placed on each new vacancy as it occurs until the next signing. I know of the six months rule but I can't recall it ever actually being adhered to (definitely not still bitter 16 years to the day).

It used to be a step up from being a reserve - you got the rotational day off and you knew what you were on for the medium-term future. Now? Anyone on anything at any time, oh and your day off gets changed to every Bank Holiday. And they wonder why no-one sticks around.
Any Questions?
Yeah, how do I get out of this chickenshit outfit?
