For weeks, we've been reporting how residents across Cornwall have been experiencing major delays with their Royal Mail deliveries or, in some cases, no deliveries at all.
Some residents in Helston reported that important letters such as hospital appointments and other documents were either late or not delivered, with the local MP having to get involved.
On top of all of that, last weekend the delivery firm announced that the price of a first-class stamp is set to rise again!
This will make it cost a whopping £1.80 for a single stamp, which may or may not arrive the next day.
Back in the day, your post would reach you by the time you were having breakfast, and if you replied to the sender, more often than not, they would have received it by the evening.
Now, this was truly a Royal Mail service and the envy of many countries.
The firm says that people are sending fewer letters, and they are losing money.
Well, no wonder fewer people are sending letters when the price is now nearly £2.
If you want to send Christmas cards to several friends, family or relatives across the country first-class, you will have to take out a mortgage.
The blame for how useless the company is should, of course, not fall on the posties themselves, who report that they've had an increase in people abusing them.
They deliver the letters and parcels no matter the weather or conditions, while still sporting shorts; they do not deserve such appalling behaviour.
Royal Mail should change direction or face a downfall of its own making.
